Hunter & Barrel Raine Square

Our first time to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday, as recommended by friends...very happy initially to have been allocated a nice 'quiet' corner upstairs, service was fantastic, after 5 mins, a group of 8 boys arrived and sat long the wall behind us, extremely noisy from 'alcohol' the entire night which affected us in term of our conversation and mood which we were hoping to be special. The table along side us also left early as the atmosphere was worse than fish market. The poor waitress continually apologised and did not have another table available, however only after the food had been placed down that a table became available but it was too late as all we wanted at that point was to eat and leave, we did not even get to desserts. We just thought that big groups (naturally generating more noise) should be placed at the outdoor areas? Sadly for us, it was not the intimate dining experience we had hoped for. Great spot, really attentive service and perfectly cooked steak - my favourite meal I had in Perth!

Nice location and venue, however the lamb skewers had a lot of sinew and was tough. also service was slow for drinks and they were not very busy.

Good food and selection of drinks. The aged barrel selection is a must try!

We had a gift voucher to use but the staff had no clue about how to process this. After waiting awkwardly at the desk for 15 minutes they managed to do it. Perhaps staff need more training. Would I go again, probably not.

The steaks are cooked so beautifully, absolutely Devine !! Never disappointed

Rump steak that I had was great. My friend had the Wagyu pie and she said it was excellent. Would definitely recommend and go there again. We also had the two courses special for $35, which was great value.

They have increased the portions on their feast for 2. The food came quickly and was cooked to perfection. would definitely come back.

Staff were beautiful, we sat outside but they made sure we had heaters and blankets. So attentive!

Very nice environment and a friendly staff. Food and drinks in a high quality level for a reasonable price. My only negative comment is about the feast for 2 coming first (and not warm enough) and 5 minutes later the sides super hot. Definitely will come back for more and totally recommend.

The steak, the thick cut chips and the ribs were the highlight of my dinner! We also ordered the pork belly, but the skin was a bit thick so couldnt really bite through it. We went here intent on the steak though, so we left the restaurant happy!

Medium steak overcooked, poor service, water out most of the night and had to keep asking, sauces charged at $3 Should be included, limited side options e.g. substantial salad. Limited wine menu.

The happy hour cocktails were awesome, and made very well! The Asian waitress was tentative to our needs, Thank you. However one western waitress was pretty rude when she brought the wrong cocktail to my table especially when I didn't order it! She was pretty sarcastic.....maybe she needs retraining on how to serve her customers with respect! AND, I was incorrectly charged for that cocktail I didn't order as well!

Had a great experience. Have been to the one in Whitfords a few times and thought we would try the one in the city. The only thing I would change is the seat. My partner and I sat at the booth, she was on the booth and I was on a chair. I notice you have 2 types of chairs, the hard wood ones and the soft cushiony ones. The hard ones aren't comfortable at all, its hard to relax because its rock hard.

The air conditioning was absolutely freezing which also cooled down the food. My husbands Waygu skewer was sent back as it was stone cold. The salad was tasteless and the clearing of our table very tardy.

I had been previously and loved it. This time there were 3 of us and each thought their food was superb. Staff are lovely. Our only complaint would be that the music was a tad too loud when you are trying to talk across the table.

Pre booked for table of 4 and visited Hunter barrel tonight for my wife’s birthday.Was disappoint when on arrival was offered a table that was only suitable for two but trying to squeeze four adults around it. They eventually offered us two tables of the same size which was much better. Service was very good and the food was excellent. Disappointed again when they wouldn’t split the bill for two couples sharing, the waitress said the normally can but the manager on shift wasn’t prepared to, very poor. I have now visited both Whitfords and the city restraunts ans the Whitfords branch is far more welcoming and much more customer focused.

They need to do something about their doors, esp during winter or on those cold windy days. it was really annoying that the wind kept blowing in.
