Dural might have a pretty small number of restaurants at its disposal, but it’s blessed to have Baba Ghanouj in its midst. Tucked into the town centre down Allen Way, just off the Old Northern Road from Sydney and formerly known as Ironbark, Baba Ghanouj specialises in authentic Lebanese cuisine spread over breakfast dishes, hot and cold mezze plates, succulent meats from the grill, wraps and desserts, alongside creative daily specials and banquet menus perfect for groups. Then, a great selection of wines, beers and cocktails round things off. Don’t be misled by its seemingly remote location as plenty of locals and daytripping Sydneysiders make advance bookings for tables here, meaning you should too, especially at peak times!
Architecturally – because setting the scene is important for a truly good restaurant experience – Baba Ghanouj is a stunner. Split over two levels near the roundabout down Allen Way in Dural’s shopping precinct, Baba Ghanouj specialises in regional Lebanese fare made with quality ingredients and fresh herbs and spices. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some of the most delicious Middle Eastern cuisine this side of Sydney, whether you drop in for a lazy brunch, drinks and mezze, or a full meal.
Baba Ghanouj Sydney’s wine selection ranks with the best of Sydney’s restaurants, balancing a range of great local Australian and European vintages that perfectly match the delicious Middle Eastern fare. Speaking of delicious food, you can expect to find a lot of it in this Dural restaurant. To begin, order a few mezze plates, including the samkeh harra fish fillet with tahini, capsicum, chilli, pine nuts and olive oil; halloumi served with cucumber, rocket, mint and tomato and the pan-fried Lebanese sausages topped with pomegranate. Then, tuck into pulled lamb served with tahini or garlic-infused chicken fresh off the charcoal grill, or perhaps select one of the wraps filled with fresh falafel. With its superlative cuisine complete with impeccable service, it's no wonder Baba Ghanouj is such a hit with local foodies – book ahead to be sure of snagging a table!
Fabulous - the staff were lovely and the food was amazing and sooo much food!! The set menus are great value thank you for having us
The food was fresh and delicious, the staff were very friendly and the service was great. I will definitely be going back again I loved it.
Service was quick, attentive, warm and very family friendly. They had strap on chair raisers for the kids so they could sit up to the table without the need for a babyish looking high chair. Which they loved and stayed in (most of the meal!) Food was delicious and we were out of there within 60 mins, which is great for an early dinner with two small people. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
It was a special birthday dinner the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful food and a lovely night sitting outside. They even bought out the cake I left earlier in the day with a candle and sang happy birthday. We will definitely be back.
Food was nice, very tasty, it is nice that you get complimentary Lebanese bread as soon as you sit down. Service as excellent. There were three of us we had lunch, but will certainly book for dinner soon.
Really enjoyed the meal. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend the restaurant and we will be back again. Perhaps the only thing that could be considered is being able to bring our own wine.
Fantastic service, incredible food. They seated us straight away & were accomodating. They did take away our food slightly early when we finished eating but they were very polite.
Food was great. Had the banquet and there was way too much but all very tasty and fresh. Service was poor but early days so would definitely return.
