The brainchild of barbecue enthusiasts Maciek and Bubba, Bubba Q is an Old Town restaurant that’s dishing out the finest smoked, marinated, slow-cooked and grilled meats that Scotland has to offer. This phenomenal dining destination has quickly earned a reputation for excellence that’s reaching foodie circles in the farthest corners of Edinburgh, drawing in guests who stop in regularly to get their fix of the smokey, fall-off-the-bone American barbecue that the High Street restaurant is known for. Sit back, relax, and enjoy big portions of the city’s best meats and sides.
The highest quality meat, a meticulous attention to detail, years of experience and a deep love for barbecue are what set Bubba Q out from other American restaurants in Edinburgh. Bubba and Maciek, proprietors and barbecue aficionados running the show at Bubba Q in the Old Town were impressed by the amazing barbecue restaurants they encountered during their travels in the US, and they set out to bring that same down-home country cooking to Scotland. Now, with their very own signature dry rub and a whole lot of dedication, they’re putting their High Street restaurant on the city’s competitive culinary map.
A dream come true for meat lovers, Bubba Q features a menu they can be proud of. From tender, juicy beef brisket to a wide range of burgers, hot dogs, southern fried chicken, ribs and wings, this Edinburgh restaurant has the food you’ve always dreamed of, and then some. We love the Pitmaster Platter, a selection of all the barbecued favourites on offer including hot links, baby back ribs, juicy chicken with a Cajun dry rub and beef brisket. Vegetarian? Don’t fret – Bubba Q has some amazing meat-free dishes to keep you satisfied, like their Big V, a halloumi, burger with roasted red pepper, avocado, crispy onion strings and a homemade chilli jam. Of course, if you want to really enjoy your meal the American way, loosen up your belt and enjoy one of their to-die-for desserts (the sticky toffee pudding is on the next level). Swing by and taste the American dream at Bubba Q in the Old Town, but make sure to book your table in advance during peak times!
First visit and it certainly won't be the last. Every thing was delicious and our server was so nice and friendly also amazing value for money. All the boxes have been ticked!
The food was amazing. I wish I had heared about this place sooner. Friendly staff. Very clean. I will be back and have recommended this restaurant to so many people since I went last night.
Large portions and delicious food! The beef brisket and ribs were especially lovely! Quick and friendly service! Can't wait to go back again as our first time!
All the food was amazing, first time I’ve been and I’ll definitely be back!
Bubba Q is a fantastic BBQ restaurant in Edinburgh. This place has a lovely cosy atmosphere, with friendly staff and an amazing range of food including burgers, platters and hot dogs. I went to this restaurant on a Wednesday evening around half 6. Even though the restaurant was quick busy, we were waited on promptly and recieved amazing service and food throughout our visit. Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys BBQ food and brilliant value for money!
Friendly staff, great décor, super food, large portions, great value. So if American diner style food is your thing I recommend you get yourself along and try out the menu for yourself. The place is small so if you are tempted you should book, as we saw at least 10 people turned away. I had a pulled pork sandwich which is served with fries an slaw. The pulled pork was tasty and juicy the slaw was crisp and not smothered in mayo and the fries were crispy.I also ordered a side of bbq beans which were outstanding. My wife had the brisket with a side of mac & cheese which was equally amazing. We will definitely be back.
Would have Been great if it said that there's steep stairs to the restuarant before hand. The tables where rather close together for my liking and definitely need to invest in cushions for the bench seats it was very uncomfortable especially when you suffer from chronic pain condition as it is. The food was great super yummy except the mac and cheese that lacked cheesiness completely it was bland it needs to be have cheese if it's mac n cheese. Also the brown paper at bottom of tray it's served in needs to be tougher or rethought completely because the juices from meat and greasy onions rings and sauces etc just made it rip while eating and I kept getting bits along with my food which is pretty annoying you don't want to eat paper and have fetch it out first when your enjoying good food!! Music was ace we loved the variety that was played. Never had room to enjoy milkshake maybe next time.
Excellent food as always. Food served prompt and tastes outstanding. Never ever had any problems anytime we have ate here. . Well apart from not having enough room in our stomachs! Only wish is they would do a similar menu for kids but just smaller portions. They do a kids menu but my kids love the adult menu. .ie; chicken wings & nachos, but can never dent the surface. Ended up costing me a small fortune with alot of waste. Kids hate the same things on offerat restaurants. . . Be diffrent and bend the rules a tad. Thanks guys.
Lovely barbeque flavour of the 5 usuals; chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage and ribs, try the pitmaster platter which is one each of the 5 plus fries and 2 sides....not for the faint hearted more enjoyable shared with 2; small place so book your table. Service was good but could have been a bit more attentive; no one asked if the meal was ok and I had to wait to catch attention on several occasions for service. However the food is good plenty of it and well prepared; meat nice and juicy. Draught beers are not on the menu so if you are thirsty make sure you spot them at the bar.
Overall Bubba Q is great Value apart from the drinks which are a little pricey. Service was friendly and quick. The food is absolutely incredible. For an authentic BBQ experience it is well worth it. Will be visiting again and would highly recommend.
