Aptly named considering its prime CBD location on Pier Street, Perth’s City Heart Indian Restaurant is a reliable place for affordable, satisfying Indian food in the heart of the city – funny that! City Heart has a cupboard full of northern Indian restaurant staples like tandoori chicken, vindaloo, jalfrezi, saag and rogan josh. Why not take the chance to try something you won’t find at many other Indian restaurants in Perth, though? Fancy a stuffed hara kebab (fried spinach and vegetable patty stuffed with cheese and spices)? Slow-cooked lamb shank dum? Saffron-poached pear with vanilla ice cream? If you can’t decide, City Heart offer awesome banquet menus, and their vegetarian or meaty lunchtime specials are well worth a look, too!
Great Indian food the highlights with out doubt for me was the goat curry Goan fish curry. In no way saying the other dishes were not also very good. Everything cooked fresh, so there was a little wait for the Tandoori chicken starter but a very reasonable wine list and a few popadoms take care of that. Well worth the wait for fresh flavourable dishes that are cooked to perfection. Recently redecorated and with new furniture gives the restaurant a nice light airy feel. A little atmospheric music and attentive staff make for an enjoyable lunch or dinner in the Perth CBD.
