I would argue that this is hands down the best degustation restaurant in Brisbane. You don’t just get amazing food but you also get amazing service.

Pretty poor experience overall. The setting and service was fine but the food was sub-par. We had the 7-course degustation. It was ultimately pretty boring and forgetful. Wouldn't recommend. I think a chef with some new ideas might be in order.

Fantastic food Layout of restaurant for privacy is original. Great atmosphere. We had our own space and could talk easily as music was nice and quiet in the background. Staff very knowledgeable on the dishes

Amazing atmosphere. Intimate setting, tables well spaced out giving privacy to all. Great food. Knowledgeable staff explaining the meal and paired wines. It was a quiet night so no waiting times and very attentive staff. Would go again to try a la carte .

We visited last night as a treat - we had the long course degustation with wine matching. (Highly recommend the wine matching experience - there were some very nice wines and generous serving sizes!) The ambience of the restaurant is quite warm, low lighting - perfect to create a sense of privacy at your own table. The layout is not crowded. Service was great and each meal explained in detail. Stand outs were the beef cheeks, pasta and duck and the mulled wine ice-cream dish. Allow 3.5-4.0 hours for the long course experience - highly worth it! Great for special occasions or a treat just-because. We will back with friends to share this unique find!

We enjoyed a romantic dinner there for our wedding anniversary. We had the long course degustation menu with matching wines. Each course was very different from the previous one, as was the wine, but we enjoyed all of them and were well satisfied by end. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive and personable. The decor was lavish - we felt we were in a Parisian restaurant. This place was a great and unexpected find for us - we’ll be back!

The food was so amazing and creative. Loved the pasta! With a beautiful, intimate venue, it is the ideal place to take your partner for that special date.

Delicious 5 course degustation menu. Plus a nice surprise with an extra birthday dessert. Booking did mention gluten free but staff did not note for chefs until we mentioned after the first course came out. Other than that great atmosphere, quirky and romantic setting.

We booked for Christmas Day lunch. Something was very wrong. We arrived at 1.30pm. We we given a complementary glass of sparkling wine as they said they we running 30 minutes behind. Then we didn't get any attention from the wait staff for 70 minutes. We had to get up and stop a member of staff to get a drink list. The food was the main issue It was a 5 course set menu. The first course arrived at 3.20pm which was 2 overcooked prawns. The second course a smoked trout tart arrived at 3.45. The pastry was very sweet. If it was deliberate it didn't work. The third course a duck ragout ravioli arrived at 4.25. It was ok. The slow roasted pork was the fourth course was very disappointing. It arrived at 4.45. (3 hours 15 minutes by now) Basically, some pulled pork shaped into a cube with a piece of inedible soggy pig skin on top. The final course a Cherry bomb with meringue arrived at 5.04. It was by far the best course but by this time after being there for almost 4 hours we just wanted to get out of there. Something obviously went seriously wrong in the kitchen. It ruined our Christmas Day. There could have been some redemption if the food was good. However apart from the ravioli and the desert everything else was very dissapointing. The service was poor, the food was dissapointing and the time we waited was inexcusable. We didn't even get offered a discount but received an SMS later in the day offering us a 30 percent discount on our next visit. There won't be a next visit.

We waited for more than one hour before sitting down, then it was almost 45 minutes for each course to come out. The food was ok, more like home cook meal, nothing stand out. Definitely will not go back again.

Poorly organised, extremely late to sit customers (over an hour). Made over 30 people wait in the small front area in 35 degree weather. Ended up leaving due to such a late start for a set menu. It was Christmas Day, they should have planned knowing about how busy it would be.

Nice quirky decore. Good ambiance. Food dishes from long degustation somewhat hit & miss. Charcoal bread, Clams & Duck are amazing. other dishes need fine tuning of flavour profile. Service somewhat rushed, professional without the warmth. Wine list a low light

Second time I’ve been there this month. Excellent! Did the wine matching this time and this certainly enhanced the experience. Will definitely be coming back in the new year.

We chose this restaurant because it was BYO. Then got the shock at the end of the night a $90 bill for corkage. Nothing was written on the wine list or menu that they charge $15 per person corkage. $15 per glass to wash. We were originally served the wine then we had to serve ourselves. The food was good but the wait between courses was slow. Finished the desert course then told they are closing in 10 minutes. It was the slowness of service we had to rush out. Food good, venue lovely but other parts of service not good.

Celebrated our anniversary at the Deer Duck. Excellent service. Amazing food. Great vibe. Our host for the evening was extremely friendly, professional and accommodating. Just have to brace yourself if you go for the long course, go too greedy, too much food for our bellies but really good flavours.

Great meals and great service. Spoilt big time by only honoring a gift voucher for 4 months and charging 25% of the bill over and above the voucher. V expensive.

Very intimate and relaxing setting. Lovely neighborhood dining experience. Food was tasty and finely presented, loved the home baked bread with truffle butter. The BYO policy was a little strange and not well explained so check this before you dine if you’re interested in bringing your own wine.

For a more upmarket restaurant I thought the service was pretty average. A few things on the menu were not available which we were only told after we tried to order them. Food was good though.

Food was good but service was not the best especially considering the high price you pay. Very slow at taking orders for drinks the only part of the service that was good was when they brought out the food explaining each course.

Food was okay. Some was great, and some was not. Service wasn't great either. Very expensive a We spent over $800 for 6 people and brought our own wine - and we were herded out as soon as it finished

The food was great and the wines were matched perfectly to each dish. I only have a couple of complaints (though small): The pork dish I was looking forward to, unfortunately the pork was a little dry. There was one salad dish which did not have as much flavour as the other dishes which I guess it is a salad, however the nuts were really hard, hurt your teeth hard, made it quite unpleasant to eat. Otherwise everything else was amazing and the dessert was so well balanced. Make sure you get a little bit of everything in one spoonful, it will blow your mind! Thank you Deer Duck Bistro.

Not being able to go out often researching for a valuable experience is important to us. Deer Duck Bistro was interesting, quite visual and cosy. The food was nice but not amazing, Degustation meals are exciting and fun and we were looking forward to the food of course. There was nothing that really stood out to me, nothing that I wanted to keep all to myself to savour every mouthful of each meal and not share! There was too much time between each serving also. This may have been suitable if we had selected to have matching wines with each serve but we didn't for this experience.
