Food was amazing and service while seated was excellent. Asking for and espresso martini after dinner was met with its too hard to do. The price we paid was quite high I would have expected that a cocktail wasn't too hard for the price we paid.

The lighting was so dark we couldn't read the menu & the food was VERY salty. We were underwhelmed, especially relative to similarly priced restaurants.

We had the 7 course with matching wine. Food and matching wines were magnificent. The service didn't live up to the standard of the food. On 2 occasions the food arrived well before the wine, it should be the other way around. Would go back.

The setting was calm and relax but with an intense mood generated by the elegant decor. Being led into the mysterious interior is like static as you're filled with anticipation for what the night will bring. That anticipation is satisfied and exceeded beyond expectation. The lady that served us embodied fine dining and was only surpassed by the extraordinary meal set before us. Each ingredient built on the last to almost paint a taste-picture. I could not recommend Deer Duck Bistro enough, please find an excuse to treat yourself and loved ones to a truly wonderful experience.

Delightful degustation menu with attentive staff. The interior and ambience of the venue are all part of the experience and are beautiful. It is worth saving up and treating yourself and your special someone.

For a degustation only restaurant we were surprised that a couple of the courses were unimpressive. We chose the 7 course variant and found them to be a mixed bag. Two were complex yet low on flavour (perhaps this was deliberate to build things up). The pork was just overcooked and dry however the accompanying jus was divine. The duck and kangaroo was excellent. Can't speak highly enough of the service and loved the setting/decor. I will try it again.

Lovely quirky restaurant with great decor. Food was good. Wait staff knew there spiel well but weren't able to elaborate. Most degustations we have been to have added extras (e.g. Mini courses, bread, etc). This was exactly as per the menu, but certainly enough food. A nice night.

We were offered a set menu but would have preferred "a la carte". We were given a "hurry-up" at 9:00 pm as the kitchen was closing at 9:30pm. RIDICULOUS We did not have time to finish our AU$260.00 bottle of Champagne.

The food was delicious and every dietary requirement catered for without any concern. The truffle cauliflower and porcini linguini were outstanding. Thank you for making this birthday lunch such a lovely experience.

Full marks for exploring different preparation and presentation. Quality of the food was generally good. Fresh and Fossil Salad was wilted and tough. Not impressed with it although it sounded good. I've eaten at Noma and Holst in Copenhagen where serves are small but wonderful and very flavoursome. My advice to the chef-spend a little more and serve something bigger than microscopic. My shaved hiramasa kingfish was the size of a 20 cent piece. Not a good first impression for the first dish Congratulations on pushing the boundaries of brisbane food. Consider some increase in size of the serves.

Food was far too overpriced for what it was. Presentation was good but it lacked flavour and was very underwhelming. Everything was good, but nothing special.

As a diabetic i took insulin before entering..our booking was for 8:30. We still hadnt eaten by 9:10. My partner wanted a coke we were ignored 4times.they also charged for water as it was Valentine's at no time looking at their website was i aware they had a special Valentine's menu which cost alot more than their normal menu. We ended up walking out and eating at the Indian restaurant next door. I still havent recieved a ph call nor have i been given back my 60$ deposit

Miscommunication about the use of a voucher. They ended up taking it off the bill but it ended up costing me a lot more than I expected. Staff were pretty good about the whole thing though

We had the 5 course degustation. Couldn't fault the service. Nice atmosphere. Wasn't a fan of the dessert which was disappointing as that's what you finish on but hubby didn't mind it. Would recommend.

Amazingly friendly staff, the space itself is beyond explanation - it's incredibly intimate; the room was full, yet i couldnt hear the people one table over. The food is to die for; expertly paired with wine, very reasonably priced. I would definitely come back.

great atmosphere and ambiance at the restaurant. Very unusual that you had to buy still or sparkling imported water. Tap water wasn't available when it is perfectly fine, local and sustainable.

$9 for a bottle of water, when they offer no other options was disappointing. Gnocchi was not what I expected - was one large piece of gnocchi, not the traditional kind.

Good ambience. Very attentive service. Knowledgeable staff. Great food. Good portion sizes for short course degustation. Great wine selection. I would recommend the matching wines and degustation menu. Caters for all food requirements. Plan to return for our next celebration.

Excellent food and good service however the food took too long to come out, we were a table of 8 however we ordered at 8pm and the last meal came just after 11pm. Given the meals are small it was a long time to wait. Other than the time inconvenience it was good night and nice place.

Poor quality for the price tag. Degustation extraordinarily expensive and not one wine or dish that caught the interest of my palate. Had been to this to restaurant before and thoroughly enjoyed!

$120 per head for the 10 course degustation was a big outlay for us, but we thought it would be worth it for our anniversary dinner. We we soooo wrong. The food was bland, uninspired, cooked badly (i.e. grisly meat that hubby spat out) and minuscule. I have done degustations before but never have I left hungry like this. Service was slow as a wet week. In the end we couldn't wait for it to be over so that we could go home for cheese on toast. Don't waste your money. So disappointed :(

The Deer Duck Bistro has delicious food and beautiful, unique decor, so it's great for a special occasion. It has nice mood lighting and people like the style of the venue itself, with ornate furniture, paintings and decorations. It's a good idea to also have an entree and order one of the side dishes if you're a bit peckish.

Deer Duck has a nice authentic original and cozy atmosphere. The five course degustation menu which we had with matching wines was excellent. The highlights for me were the spanish mackerel and the suckling pig. The presentation and service were first class. The usual criticism of a degustation menu applies in that the tiny portions tend to leave you feeling teased and not completely satisfied. A more serious criticism is that the website very clearly says that on Tuesday nights the degustation menu is only $70. It isn't. It was $99 pp. We were told this was because the menu had changed which it had in part - roughly half of the dishes had changed. However really the restaurant needs to either keep its website up to date or honour the promises they make there. Overall I would certainly go again. I'd probably opt for a"proper" meal next time and hope to leave feeling fuller.

Food was underwhelming and service was terrible. Restaurant manager spent 10mins arguing with us that we couldn't use our living social voucher we had purchased because it was a Saturday night, despite them accepting our booking a month in advance.

Nice decor, service mixed quality, food is tasty but we left hungry after the 7 course menu and matched wines. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback to make their servings slightly larger.

Too much fluff with not enough substance for the price. Two of seven courses were enjoyable. Flaws in service offset by some flexibility in wine selection. Not enticed to return.
