About Elaichi

Elaichi’s Cannock Road headquarters are indeed the headquarters for refined, highly specific Bangladeshi cuisine for the entirety of the Cannock Chase region. It’s rare to find a South Asian restaurant that concentrates exclusively on Bangladeshi and Bengali cuisine, but that’s exactly what Elaichi does. Located in Ashworth House in central Cannock, Elaichi offers a superb a la carte menu and a range of specials for dining on a budget. This is a standout in Staffordshire and the West Midlands for its dedication to an often marginalised subcontinental cuisine.

Further Information

Topping the list of Elaichi’s Bangladeshi delicacies are this Cannock restaurant’s ever-popular balti dishes. The best are the balti with king prawns, evoking the riverine and maritime provenance of Bangladeshi food. Spice lovers from across Cannock Chase come to Elaichi’s Ashworth House home down Cannock Road for the naga special king prawn balti, cooked with traditional herbs and spices, onions, peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and a fistful of one of the world’s hottest chilli peppers: the infernal naga. Taking a tangent away from seafood balti, you can also get your hands on supreme beef, tandoori chicken, lamb and chicken tikka balti, too.

If you happen to be dining with the inevitable clutch of picky and unadventurous friends, you can always steer them in the direction of Elaichi’s English dishes, but you yourself will be heading for the combination dishes that feature a pair of different South Asian specialties in one. Or, place your confidence with the chefs at this Cannock Bangladeshi restaurant and go for one of the chef’s specials. These again draw a crowd from across the Cannock Chase and Staffordshire region for their innovative approach: the murgh lassoni cooks chicken tikka alongside caramelised cheddar for a curious flavour fusion, while John’s special consists of chicken and king prawn cooked with lamb mince and roast potatoes. The Indo-Thai chicken and lamb stir-fry with whole spice, tomatoes, onions, capsicum and sweet corn is something of an anomaly on an otherwise tightly focused menu, but delicious nonetheless. Book to beat the crowds.
