The burger and chicken scene is ever-growing in Australia and beyond – American food is making a real comeback from it’s previously less-than-respected reputation – and in the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Fairfield, they have a joint that goes a little further than just grills and chips. That isn’t to say that GrillStation on Station Street isn’t based around the grill: their specialities are all off the charcoal, but they go further than just the basics. They’ve devised their own meat delicacies – from marinated lamb skewers to scotch fillet steak and plenty of burgers – which are like the ones you’ve had elsewhere, but just better, as well as plenty of vegetarian options as well, such as lightly-fried falafel and veggie wraps. Take a trip to Fairfield’s Station Street – GrillStation is as close to the station as Station Street suggests – and remember to book yourself a table ahead of time, as they can get quite crowded.
