Hellenic Republic - Brighton

Been a few times and loved it - but last night - food was way too oily service was officious and front of house was close to rude and dismissive

Food was flavorsome and well cooked. The service was fast and friendly. Noise levels and high and chairs are really uncomfortable however this didn't bother us too much as we were in an out in 1 hour.

Thankyou George. Another fabulous dinner at HR. Long may it last😋 However it was disappointing your signature lamb was all finished so early in the evening. We’ll just have to return soon😁😁

The staff were very friendly and amazing food and great location

Despite I ask a table close window, table was close to kitchen then too warm. Not comfortable. However, everything amazing

The restaurant was very crowded and busy so the noise level was high. Made conversation rather difficult. Our waiter was smiling and friendly, but the assisting wait staff could smile a bit more. However, the food was amazing!! The lamb, so succulently tender and the grain salad, dips and pita bread were delicious. The menu has good variety and we look forward to our next visit.

I was non-plussed by the casual way staff related to our requests, and I thought the 10% Sunday surcharge was a joke!

Loved the food and service. The baclava dessert was a highlight. Well done George.

We had a sensational lunch at Hellenic Republic in Brighton. Food and wine all fantastic, and George was even working alongside his employees. There was a great friendly vibe among staff and patrons as well. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

All the good came out at once. Let rushed. Disappointing

The chairs were VERY uncomfortable. I had to sit on the edge of the seat so I could sit up straight and not slouch.

Amazing dining experience. We has the lamb ribs, saganaki, calamari, manti, zucchini chips and to top it off the baklava. Everything was divine, couldn’t find a fault. Service was prompt & very friendly

Extremely obliging with a vegan diner who had allergies as well . Very impressed with meal and how they worked with everyone’s dietary needs . Excellent service Excellent

Birthday lunch on a Friday. Really enjoyable experience, with good quality table service. George C was in restaurant, but didn't see him much. Apparently he gets around tables a bit, but not today. Food of a good quality, saganaki with figs, and lamb shoulder were both really good dishes, plus lovely grain salad. Chicken & meat balls were okay, but nothing exceptional. Calamari plate was very small, and not value for money. Bread with dips was so so. I'm rating it as good meal for a special occasion but at $325 for 4 adults & 3 teenagers, you need to know it wont be cheap (only 1 small bottle of wine between us).

My second visit which will be my last! Poor food, screaming, noisy kids & disinterested, staff. A great disappointment!

Food good but the Garfish had not been boned Waitresses not good. Spilt water twice on the table Messes up the order, three garfish instead of four Bought the main course out before the entree plates had been removed

The manager/MD, front of face on reception: Dawn. Face like thunder, I felt so unwelcome. Dawn was rude, abrupt & couldn’t even pronounce my first name. The right thing to say; ‘sorry I’m unsure how to pronounce your name, how do I pronounce it?’ I explained to Dawn my name is French. I would of thought that someone working in a high end restaurant; would be trained in all things French & with European cultural experience. Bring back Greek Terry who was MD here; he is sadly missed & Hellenic Brighton does not run the same now he has departed. That beautiful, happy, warm, family atmosphere has gone?! Two good things: The food always exceptional, especially as I’m coeliac. Secondly, my beautiful waitress: Daniela, so knowledgeable, so friendly, always smiling, approachable; goes out of her way to please & serve. Genuine & caring, so lovely to see. Thank You.
