High Wycombe Tavern

Went in tonight after seeing Steak night special on their website (went there from a google search). We couldn't see any signage about it so asked the waitress who said she was fairly certain it wasn't on. She called over the Duty Manger who went to great lengths to tell us not only had they not had specials since Covid hit but they couldn't even buy the steak for that much. Even after showing her the live link from Google - she refused to do anything to honour the rate and even (randomly I thought unless the Chef has more power than a manager) saying the Chef said no to honouring the price. I took screen shots but by the time we got home the page she claimed didn't exist - had been removed. We originally had a table at the Belmont Tavern ($17 steak night and a kids playground) but cancelled because we thought the HW had finally returned to having specials. In fact the only 'specials' they had on offer started at $29.50 and their prices are much higher than previous visits. We walked out as not willing to pay that much for any of their food after being treated so poorly!. Such a shame they are willing to lose customers over something such as this!

Food was good and lots of it.The chips were a bit cold and thus soggy.Burger was very greasy.Salads could have been bigger but squid was tender and plentiful,parmies huge,steak cooked perfectly to my husbands choice,chilli muscles really good and huge serving.Service was very good and like the fact that you have a buzzer on your table to order more drinks without having to go to the bar

Food and service are ok, but cocktails preparation is very poor, we’ve been 3 times there and always the same issue.

Always a great time at our local, we had 12 for dinner and not a single scrap of food was left cause it's always that bloody good, we cannot recommend this place enough.

Overall a very good lunch experience. Excellent service and value for money. Had a “seniors meal”, roast of the day, and the only criticism would be the meat (beef) was cut the wrong way which made it a bit chewy. Will go back.

Fantastic pub food, better than most pubs. Presentation and taste excellent. Great service. The only down size is the noise, but that is because the place is packed because of its popularity. Attempts have been made to soften the noice.

The food was good . Service was okay . Entree plates not cleared and no fresh cutlery for mains . Good value for money . Need more bread for the tasting plates .

The service and meal was brilliant on our visit, we were a large group and we did not have to wait long for drinks or our meals.

A great selection of food. We had a big group (16) and we were well looked after by the staff and everyone enjoyed their meals.

great menu/prices , excellent service, friendly staff, nice relaxing atmosphere. short waiting times and food lovely. definitely worth a return visit.

Best steak sandwich, I took the pork belly out as I don't fancy it but the steak was so tender. Great flavour

garlic bread wasn't the nicest but rest of meals wernt to bad

11 meals on a busy Friday night dinner time and every single 1 was amazing! All cooked to perfection and all tasted great
