Tandoori chicken, Himchuli’s signature chilli chicken, and the Anglo-Indian dish of mustard pork tikka are just some of the specialties at this Brighton Indian restaurant. Situated just a short walk down Bay Street from North Brighton station, Himchuli has established itself in this part of Melbourne as a relatively unique place to dine if you’re looking for South Asian food. You can get yourself a feast of Indian food, but there are also a number of Nepalese delicacies awaiting you, alongside a special selection of dishes ‘from the meadows’, ‘from the fisherman’s net, ‘from the vegetable garden’, a number of ‘harvest’ options focusing on biryani-style options, and chef’s specials like the Bombay mushrooms, daal with your choice of chicken, beef, or lamb, and masala pepper calamari.
Our dinner was excellent as usual. The wait staff here are courteous and very efficient . I am vegan and my friend is celiac and we had no problem with the menu, the girls were well informed regarding our specific requirements and recommended entree and main courses for us, which were great choices.
We booked Himchuli recently before a movie and arrived to find that the restaurant has changed hands. Never the less our dining experience was very enjoyable. The service and food were wonderful... we found out that the new chef owner had worked at the Taj Mahal in India and many years at a well known Indian restaurant in Brighton. He graciously came to our table to thank our group of 4 for dining in his restaurant. Please feel confident dining here under its new ownership.... we'll be back.
