About Ironbark Diner
Dural might have a pretty small number of restaurants at its disposal, but it’s blessed to have Ironbark Diner in its midst. Tucked into the town centre down Allen Way, just off the Old Northern Road from Sydney and formerly known as Lombardo’s, Ironbark specialises in modern Australian cuisine spread over brunch and tapas and a classically-structured a la carte menu, alongside creative daily specials showcasing the best seasonal produce in the area. A great selection of wines, beer and spirits rounds off this striking, split-level bar and restaurant’s offering. Don’t be misled by its seemingly remote location – plenty of locals and daytripping Sydneysiders make advance bookings for tables here – you should too, especially at peak times!

Architecturally – because setting the scene is important for a truly good restaurant experience – Ironbark Diner is a stunner. Made from actual ironbark and split over two levels near the roundabout down Allen Way in Dural’s shopping precinct, Ironbark Diner is unmissable for its ability to open up both storeys to the sun, its rustic interior and stylish accents. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some of the most delicious modern Australian cuisine this side of Sydney, whether you drop in for a lazy brunch, drinks and tapas, or a full meal.
Ironbark’s wine selection ranks with the best of Sydney city’s enoteca, balancing a range of great Australasian vintages with European varietals plucked from the wineries of France, Italy, and Spain. These pair perfectly with the internationally-inclined tapas on offer – salmon cakes with Thai salsa, lamb chops with harissa and labne for a Middle Eastern and Lebanese vibe, crispy pork belly with kimchi and sofrito rice on the Chinese-Korean tip. Proper meals at Ironbark are unsurprisingly popular among Dural locals, offering superb modern Australian cuisine at great prices, from pork belly with colcannon, baby leek, cauliflower, black pudding and pear jus, to wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil, danish feta and almonds and an absolutely delectable confit duck leg that simply must be tried. With its superlative cuisine complete with impeccable service, it's no wonder Ironbark Diner is such a hit with local foodies – book ahead to be sure of snagging a table!
Delicious food, all three courses were perfect Great service and friendly staff Can't wait to go back and try their breakfast, lunches and coffee too
What a great experience it was at Lombardo's Restaurant & Bar. Food was beautifully presented and delicious, service was exceptional. A hidden gem in Dural!!
Shame about the Woolies delivery truck noise and diesel fumes. Great food. Fantastic wine advice. Wonderful staff. Will go back again and again but......the Woolies truck.
Great atmosphere. Food was exceptional. Can't wait to try their breakfast and lunch menu's. The place is only small and in an unexpected location which adds to its magic. 10/10 would recommend!
First time here after it being recommended to us. I had looked at the dinner menu online before going and it wasn't the same as what we were offered when we arrived so I was a little apprehensive as the new menu was not as comprehensive as the online one. Saying that, we were all pleasantly surprised when our meals arrived. The quality, freshness and flavours of all meals was divine! I can highly recommend the gnocchi with beef and veal ragu! The restaurant was not at capacity so we were able to sit and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Other members of our group had the oysters and salt and pepper prawns for entree which they raved about. Fully licensed so no BYO wine. Staff were very friendly and our waitress was very personable. Made it a fun night. Overall, a great experience with fantastic food! We will be back.
What a wonderful experience we had for lunch with the family. There is a large selection on the menu, something for everyone and the wine selection had both international and national varieties, which I love. As soon as we arrived we felt welcomed and were shown to our table. Given we were there on a very busy day (Father's Day) I was very impressed at how calm and measured all the staff were. They were friendly and consistent with their service for the entire afternoon. We were in no rush and the ambience of the restaurant was perfect, conversations flowed and we weren't in competition with surrounding tables or outside noise. The view from the 1st floor was also spot on looking out to the Blue Mountains. In summary: Location = Perfect, Food = Delicious, Service = Exceptional! We will visit again for sure!
Last night's dinner at Lombardo was tough. I brought my family to celebrate my son's birthday. Unfortunately they are under staff and pressure was a bit much. With so many customer to serve but not a lot of cooks to handle the order. The wait was long and the Manager and the waitresses kept apologising for the delay. We were so hungry waiting. They offered us a free appetiser to compensate for the wait. It was delicious. However twas not enough to fill the hunger and anxiety we were feeling. Food finally came and was good. Except for my rib in bones which was old stock. I guess some days you do get an unpleasant experience. But we will be back to try again. Perhaps next time it is much better service. The Manager did gave us a free dinner voucher to offset the unpleasant experience.
Our breakfast and the coffees were delicious, and we particularly loved the interior design and rustic features at Ironbark Diner. The ambience is very cozy, with lots of natural light and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely be back...
Service was disappointingly ordinary from the minute we walked in. In addition, we were seated at tables abt 10 cms from our neighbours. Too close. Entree of salt and pepper prawns was probably the highlight. Mains - we both chose pork belly - could barely carve through the crackling. Salad which accompanied was delicious. Desserts - choc brownie - dry, drowned in the sauce to try and disguise and white choc cheesecake - pretty flavorless. Needed more rose petal contrast. Both super sweet and we are fond of sweet! Coffees delivered long after desserts finished - very ordinary despite the wait. Pleasant waitress but profusely apologetic for her many mistakes. Wore thin. Overall, average experience for a high end bill. Not really worth it. Sorry.
Before I placed my order I asked if I would be getting what is described on the menu as my last visit at Lombardos I didn't. Her reply was "sometimes they have to substitute if they don't have the produce" which I fully appreciate if it was meat, fish or any other protein. My meal came with mash potato NOT the parsnip puree and NO slithered roasted almonds! When I questioned this she told me how the chef "hates putting almonds in meals"!!! If you're not prepared to cook what's on the menu REMOVE IT - twice this has happened. And to top things off two in our party order the ribeye on the bone - one was correct the other was a fatty grisly piece of goodness knows what. When I questioned this she blamed the BUTCHER, excuse me but how is it the chef doesn't know what they're cooking. BTW our coffee order was incorrect also. Will not be back
The food, wine, service & lovely balcony restaurant were all spot on. We had a lovely night off from the kids. It's so great to see a restaurant like this in the Hills! The Tuna Carparccio Appetizer, Pork Belly Entree & Salmon Main were our favs!
Table of 3, Midweek night, restaurant was moderately busy, we were seated immediately, the service was friendly, Our meals were delicious, served in a timely manner, the servings were a lovely size, food was fresh & tasty, overall great experience
The table service was good yet seemed over baring. There was a mix up with the water and we had plain water mixed in with mineral water in the same glasses. The staff did sincerely apologies and corrected the error. Meals were mediocre for the price paid. Entrees were very small, octopus was rubbery and salmon was over cooked, the steak was good. There was no pause provided between courses, and the whole experience seemed rushed.
Overall fantastic. We will definitely go back again. The food was delicious and the wine was great. The best lunch I have had in a long time. The staff were very welcoming, helpful provided a perfect service.
It was my second time at Lombardos and it was disappointing!! The main dishes were a let down. My husband ordered the crackling pork and it wasn't crackling, I had the brisket with cous cous and it was average. The entrees were outstanding!! Service was excellent but the staff all looked new as they weren't as knowledgeable as my previous visit. They have changed there name to IronBark, looks like change of hands.
Food was amazing. Staff were amazing and decor was tastefully rustic. The wine recommended by the waitress was delicious. I was just sorry I didn't have room for dessert. Thank you for a lovely evening. Sarina
Fantastic service, menu and atmosphere! Great, clean, comfortable seating. Friendly staff, very courteous. Very comfortable seating and ambience. Drinks menu was full of choices as well as entrees mains and desserts. I will certainly be returning!
The service was making and the food equaled it. We were very pleased with our dinner and will be going back. Recommend the oysters, the freshest most tasty oysters I've eaten in a long time!
Food was really nice but service was very very slow (over 1.25 hrs for main course) and our original waitress was rude and inexperienced (got order wrong and was unapologetic for mistakes and delays). My sisters would go back but I am not fully convinced I would. Sorry
Nice restaurant. Friendly staff. A bit pricey for the menu. We took three teenage girls who sat on a separate table to us and their service was extremely slow- an hour after the adults so that was not great. They were starving and we had finished so that was not a great first impression. Seems to cater for adults more so than children.
The food was great but the service was very slow as the kitchen seemed to be struggling a lot. The service was good but the whole experience devalued by the very slow service. The menu has 3 dishes for Valentines Day but they ran out of one of the dishes by 7:30. Our table was very noisy and cramped
We had a fantastic dinner here the other night, it was our first time and the food was amazing and the service was great.. we will definitely be back to try more of the menu
Great good fantastic service. Really enjoyed it also catered for my 20monthbold Roth food and drawing. Would def go back .. no hesitation and the cocktails are Devine !
Very pleasant lunch. Great service and good quality seafood. Beer selection was quite varied. The decor was modern and comfortable. Would go back again for lunch or dinner.
We had an amazing experience, the food was exceptional even met all our dietary requirements, the staff professional and friendly! Definitely will be back, sooner rather than later!
Our fave restaurant in the area!always delicious and service is consistent..entrees are scrumptious.. Was slightly cold upstairs on a cold night..but easily solved with the warm food!
Great food & wine served promptly with happy, friendly staff eager to serve then let you enjoy your experience. Will be back again soon for sure.
Good food, excellent service, special set menu for Valentine's Day, champagne on arrival, lovely setting with flowers on the table. Will definitely come back for more.
I Rated you 6, but it won't show when I tap. Anyway, Food excellent, and service is always perfect! Always a great experience! Thankyou very much!
Service was great, staff very accomodating, could have done with one extra person on the floor, serving wine - kept in a communal bucket away from the table. Food was excellent.
The service is nice as the waitress were so friendly and genuine. The ambient is warm and relaxing. The seafood are so fresh and tasty. The only thing that hesitates me would be waited too long for meal.
The staff were friendly and happy. The meals we chose were so delicious. The deserts are a must. We will definitely go back there again.
Absolutely amazing food, topped off by beautiful warm ambience. Highly recommend this place. A nice twist on traditional italian food! Their service is also very friendly..
Great food with unusual Asian influences ! Service pleasant although we weren't told specials of the day , only overheard from the waiter telling the people on the next table.
My friend and I had a lovely lunch. The truffle ravioli was delicious. Great wine list and excellent service. Great value for money. Lombardos is becoming my favourite Hills restaurant
Great service & even better food & wine set in a beautifully designed upstairs dining room. We will be back now the secret is out!
Food was delicious, tasty and service was good. Would recommend a visit to this restaurant. Loved the tempura kale and the duck dish I had as a main was melt-in-your-mouth!
This place is brilliant!! We went for dinner and loved the food, service and will definitely be returning. Would also love to try it for brunch or late afternoon drinks.
We really enjoy dining at Lombardos. The food is delicious, the decor lovely and the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Please chef, bring back those amazing truffled potato fries!
Overall we had a pleasant night. They were full and the waiters were hard to catch sometimes when you wanted something but they were pleasant once you got their attention. Nice meals and would go back again.
Excellent food. Prompt service. Absolutely nothing to fault We will return. Probably the only concern was the rather expensive wine list. The most inexpensive bottle of white was $45!
Service and staff great, food excellent, presentation good, lovely atmosphere for dining. Also not Noisy like many other restaurants that makes dining pleasant to enjoy a wonderful evening with friends.
Salad ingredients was fresh, serve was good, dessert brownie, chocolate ice cream was brilliant, menu item and wine list limited, cosy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to catch up with friends
New name so a little confused at the start, good food - menu a little small yet the lamb and the brisket was yum, good service, interesting, yet good wine list a little pricey.
Menu is limited. Geberally meals were tasty however the pork belly was very salty and not crispy on top. Service was not great, wait staff did not come near us to offer another glass of wine. Not as good as past experience at this restaurant.
Very nice, service was prompt and the waitress very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was fresh and very nice. Happy to recommend for any occasion. Will be back.
We waited 2 and a quarter hours for our meal, even though we were on time for our booking, even arriving 15 minutes early. It was my son's birthday and we were looking forward to the evening , however this late meal had everyone cranky and feeling very dissatisfied with the whole dining experience. We were not even offered a free drink or dessert after we had complained several times on the lateness of the meal and nothing was taken off the bill. We definitely not recommend this restaurant, although the food when it did arrive was satisfactory. My barramundi skin was definitely not crispy and my daughter could hear the chef arguing with his employees - not a very professional thing to do in front of customers. Definitely not coming back.
Great service, beautiful food. A little bit expensive. Not your everyday restuarant with the family. Nice for adults & special occasions. Large menu to select from.
The staff are friendly and the menu and wine list good, something for everyone. Food well presented and very enjoyable. Nice atmosphere with easy parking.
Service was good, a lovely menu with plenty of variety and a pretty good wine list to choose from. Happy to return for another meal
