Nepalese food may not be as celebrated as that of their nearest neighbours – though being stuck between two of the culinary powerhouses of the world in the form of India and China doesn’t help much – but down at Kathmandu Palace on Nile Street in Glenelg, there is an outpost of the cuisine in Adelaide. The joy of Nepalese cooking is in its combination of Indian-style curries and kebabs, Chinese-style stirfries and dumplings and their unique local tastes to develop something all their own. Take the Jetty Road out of Adelaide to Glenelg – seriously easier than taking a trip up to the roof of the world in Kathmandu – for a meal that offers an authentic beginners guide to the cuisine of the Himalayas. We would encourage you to book a table ahead of time though, as they can get very busy on occasion.
The food was great, very tasty. Friendly, efficient service. Only a small crowd the night we were there so were were spoilt. Great atmosphere with photos etc of Nepal region.
The restaurant is in a great location and reasonably easy to find parking. The food is outstanding and the service is great. The decorations inside are great, creating a great ambience.
A beautiful dining experience! Elegant atmosphere, charming yet discreet service, and the food was superb! The serves were generous, and even feeling full, we kept eating as we didn't want to waste a thing! If you've never tried buffalo, do yourself a favour. Then try the lamb cutlets, sensational! And make sure you book. The place was full by 7.30 and we counted 4 walk-in groups turned away before we left at 8.30.
