Quality cafe dining doesn’t get much better than this in Melbourne’s CBD. Elegant yet unpretentious, Little Billy serves up exquisite food – with an emphasis on healthy eating and carefully sourced ingredients – to go along with top-shelf coffee, an impressive wine list, craft beers and other drinks. The Billy Group of eateries is well regarded around Melbourne for their innovative cuisine and this William Street iteration is no exception, so be sure to book a table in advance if you’re hoping to taste what modern Australian cafe fare can be at its best.
Prompt and friendly service. Food was excellent. I had the 200gm eye fillet, with was about 2 inches thick and requested it be cooked medium. The colour was consistent throughout, which I find a rarity in meat that thick.
Enjoyable evening with friends, great food - menu offered a lot of choice and catered for everyone's taste. Service was attentive and wine list provided good selection.
When you sit down to a dish at Little Billy, you get the feeling you’re eating somewhere that thinks a bit outside the box. The names are familiar – Thai beef salad, cheeseburger, open lamb souvlaki, steak sandwich and the like – but there are a few hints that this suave cafe on William Street in Melbourne’s CBD take standard cafe menus not as a guide but as an invitation to create and innovate. At Little Billy, the starkest point of difference from other Melbourne cafes is the ingredients – a dedication to paddock-to-table eating sees some of the brightest, freshest, most flavoursome and healthy local produce appearing on the plate.
Still, anybody in Melbourne can throw a bunch of quality ingredients on a plate, but Little Billy even do this part with style. The presentation is superb, and with the sleek interior design and refined atmosphere of this William Street space Little Billy could just as well suit an important business lunch in the CBD as it could a casual cafe brunch. Besides choosing what to eat from among the slew of photo-worthy and mouthwatering options, the hardest thing about Little Billy is catching them at a quiet time, so reservations are strongly advised at all times.
