About Lulo

Whether you’re looking for a suave, intimate bar for a casual tipple or a hearty, memorable meal calling on flavours from across the globe, Lulo is there to sort you out on Glenferrie Rd, right in the thick of the action in Hawthorn. South American flavours and Spanish staples are in greedy abundance, so the hardest part is choosing what you can fit in during a visit to this Latin jewel in the beating heart of one of Melbourne’s culinary hotspots. That just means you’ll have to come back.

Further Information

Lulo is the place to go in Hawthorn when enticed by the Latin groove. Starting at the bar (a great idea if this Glenferrie Rd joint is buzzing as usual and tables are hot property), browse the impressive selection of Spanish and South American brews, or indulge in an authentic Brazilian Caprinha cocktail on par with any you’ll find in Melbourne. If you’re not staying for a meal, you can still get a taste of Lulo’s phenomenal food with an array of tasty small plates including Peruvian olives, smoked eggplant empanadas, house-made prawn crackers with succulent chicharron pork, or a slice of Lulo’s own quinoa and farro sourdough bread.

Apologies to anybody who takes off before dinner - but now things get truly exciting in east Melbourne. Amazing South American specialties sizzle on the Lulo grill, from ox tongue and octopus to Scotch fillet and lamb cutlets, all accompanied by mouthwatering Latin condiments. In the unlikely event you need extra sustenance there is grilled corn cob, crispy golden cassava chips, or papas andinas baby roast potatoes to help you along. Not to mention a trio of gorgeous ceviches for a lighter meal, entree, or to refresh your palate before finishing off with coffee and dessert. You won’t believe you’re still in Hawthorn.

always exceptional service, food and wine! This was our second visit and it exceeded the first for sheer depth of flavours and variety of tapas items on offer

Good food, wine and service; nice for after movie supper or casual dinner with friends. Sharing menu of tapas and some larger dishes and good selection of wines.

Great food and service, the tapas style South American food was a treat. Loved the belly pork dish. Will definitely be going back with friends and family.

The service was great, lamb in particular was delicious They did not have the snapper for the ceviche instead offering kingfish on the night, but overdid the sauce - way too much.

Good flavours. Extremely slow from Order to Service though, then all the meals came together - so half of our plates of food were cold by the time we reached them.

The food is tapas-style, so the portion was on the small side. Great for sharing over drinks but not so much for just dinner. Overall delicious food and great service.

Disappointing service, entrees came out before our drinks were served. Lovely food, especially snapper ceviche ,oysters, tomato salad. Would try it again - might have just been an off night.

Quiet place for lunch although the piped music was a bit intrusive. Very enjoyable tapas, excellent variety and fresh - don't miss the empanadas and the jamon !

Very disappointing considering how expensive it was. We ordered the smallest set menu for two people, and one jug of sangria, which totalled $130. There were no stand outs in the meal for me, and my partner's favourite dish was the cured ham, which didn't need anything doing to it! Won't be back again.

Over priced and left still hungry plus the waiter was doing shots at the bar, directly across from where we were sitting. All staff weeee super friendly but portions were too small and was a super expensive feed.
