Some Indian restaurants are decent, some are excellent, and some are, well, magic. Magic Curries on Hampden Road in Battery Point conjure up curries that are loved all over Hobart, a tribute to the dedication and effort that they have put in. The family that own Magic Curries hail from the Punjab, so the emphasis is on North Indian food, as is the ambience, so when you arrive, you’re going to want to take advantage. Start with a pakora or two, or something from the tandoor – they do a mixed platter with a bit of everything – before moving onto any of the extensive range of classic curries on offer. Hampden Road in Hobart might not seem the obvious destination for a spot of subcontinental sorcery, but head on over: seeing is believing, after all.
The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and presented well. The place was cosy and clean. Yes we'll go back for sure.
We had an easy situation with booking through Quandoo and found the food we chose to be exceptional, beef Vindaloo slightly tempered and a lovely medium chicken curry plus the potato stuffed bread and rice. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, prices very reasonable also.
We eat here a few times a year, the food is fantastic and the staff are always friendly. Highly recommended. Make sure you try the platter for two for an entree. We will definitely be back.
It was an easy effortless way to make the reservation. We also received confirmation from the restaurant themselves and had a lovely dinner once we got there
Prompt friendly service. Great butter chicken and lamb curry very flavoursome. Highly recommended to anyone who lives a curry of any sort. Oh and the open fire was also very welcoming on these cold Hobart evenings.
Its a great small Indian restaurant , love the fact that it feels authentic, nice people serving you whilst enjoying good quality food. Love Battery Point
