As soon as you enter Miss Kitty’s Saloon on Beaufort Street, you get the impression that you’re in for something a bit different – bed frames hang from the roof, hand-knitted blankets are lying around, the furniture is mismatched and there are old-timey barn doors that altogether give this Inglewood gem a quaint, quirky and comforting atmosphere. The food is also a bit different from what you might expect from other modern American joints. Mammoth portion sizes have remained in the good ol’ American tradition, but a lot of American meals are done lighter, healthier and with more vibrant flavours than the greasy images that may spring to mind when you first hear them.
