Okami - Doncaster

We were not warned that they were having their permit to serve alcohol reviewed. Therefore we were not able to drink a toast to my husband on his birthday. The food was average and the meat and veg cooked at our table was boring and took ages to heat up, plus nobody explained anything. Food was dumped on our table and staff had to be called back to explain about the non-existent wine list and how to use the menu. We won't be coming back.

We were a party of 13. Food was fabulous and service was good.

Food was very slow to come out. At one point we were waiting for 30 mins with no food. Some dishes we ordered never arrived. When we asked the staff they said they could not tell. I would have thought with the QR code electronic ordering system it would be easy to see what was in the queue. We would have liked to eat a bit more, but after 1.5 hours we were kind of over it. Staff were manic. McDonalds's atmosphere. Won't be back.

We love Okami, sometime very slow bringing out dishes, forgetting dishes, having to flag staff down to order. But overall the food is great.

Was great food. Service was good until half way through when it started to get busy. Each time we tried to ask the waiter to place an order they were too busy. Needed more staff on the floor during peak times.

Good easy food as always, but terrible service. Only one person serving, so can’t blame him, but they were rude and not my best experience. Also had rules that I’ve never heard of at Okami.

Fairly disappointing that they hadn’t organised their liquor licence as we had brought a nice bottle of red to enjoy with dinner. They then didn’t bring out a menu until I asked for one, we wanted to order relatively soon as we had our toddler with us. The teriyaki steak and chicken tasted microwaved and due to their QR ordering, the ability to adjust orders has been removed. This was handy when ordering sashimi/sushi plates when there were items that you did not want on them - important when they have signage everywhere saying they will weigh leftovers and charge for them. This was overall disappointing. We are busy and don’t get the opportunity to go out for dinner a lot and this felt like a waste of time and money.

We went expecting to have a drink with our meal but due to no current liquor licence we could not. This information should have been on their website, it would have influenced our decision to go there.

Most of the food was cold when we received it. While some foods may be served that way, Dim sum should not be cold when served. The restaurant and car park both need a good clean and freshen up. The toilets were disgusting. The staff did not interact at all other than to place the food down. They did not ask if we needed help with how to order or explain the dishes . We had to get our own cutlery and water.

Love Okami Doncaster, it has a wide range of items to choose from and lots of tables. It's always such a treat for the family.

BUT, only allowing 6 dishes for a table of eight was frustrating. A lot of us had to sit watching others eat because there was rarely enough food on the table at once. Otherwise the food is good and service decent

Food was ok. Many of the hot dishes came out lukewarm. Timing was all over the place. Miso soup was ordered first yet came last right at the end. Mains were ordered with rice. Rice didn’t come until mains were finished. Overall reasonable value for money but a little manic. Not sure we’d go again.

Nothing special. Attended Mother’s Day lunch and my son called it Japanese fast food like McDonald’s
