The string of pho outlets popping up on Brunswick Street are still a long way from establishing Melbourne’s hipster main drag as a challenger to the likes of Footscray and Victoria Street when it comes to Vietnamese fare. But Pho La Que Basil Leaf is certainly a step in the right direction. This intimate eatery relies on hearty portions and time-tested family recipes to keep customers coming back, serving honest, uncompromised Vietnamese dishes done with careful attention to detail. The beef pho broth is rich and flavoursome, the super fresh rice paper rolls light, crunchy and beautifully presented, and their vermicelli meals are among the very best in Fitzroy (particularly the lemongrass chicken). For a big dose of quality Vietnamese without the pomp and ceremony now common in the genre, it’s hard to fault Pho La Que Basil Leaf.

Always a delight eating at this place, that's why I keep coming back again & again. Excellent, quick & friendly service every time I visit.
Lovely people but flavours a little lacking in the vegetarian pho. Lemon juice was very sweet but delicious when watered down a little. Lovely vibe and great prices.
