About Purple Pakora - Marple Bridge
A favourite among the curry loving population of Marple, Purple Pakora have established a name for themselves as one of the best Indian eateries in the area, with a number of locations scattered around Cheshire. A cosmopolitan take on a classic curry house, at Purple Pakora the decor is elegant and stylish and menu fuses together time-honored recipes and modern dishes. Kick things off with the cheesy tikka (chicken tikka and baby potatoes smothered in melted cheese) before moving on to a curry – you’ll find all of your favourites on the menu alongside some specialities. We recommend the jingha bhuna (king prawns stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, spice, garlic, ginger and herbs). You’ll find Purple Pakora on Marple Bridge’s Brabyns Brow, on the edge of Brabyns Park. It’s no overstatement to say that Purple Pakora has become the name that people in Cheshire associate with high quality Indian cuisine. What began as one restaurant has now become three and, to be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised if there are more to come. The Marple Bridge restaurant is an ultra modern space set amongst the rural beauty of Brabyns Brow and inside you’ll receive the outstanding service that is undoubtedly one of the reasons why Purple Pakora has become so popular. In fact, it’s no exaggeration to say that curry lovers from all over Stockport make the trip out here just because they know it’s the best Indian food for miles.
Here in Marple Bridge the Purple Pakora menu is wonderfully varied and every dish is prepared to order using ingredients that are as fresh as can be found. The chefs here will never rush their craft and the results are a delight. You’ll find your kormas, your baltis, your bhunas, of course, but the signatures are what makes Purple Pakora the best in all of Stockport: lemon tikka masala, roast lamb chops on the bone, ginger kofta, even caramel or chocolate korma! These are Indian creations you won’t have tried before, and if you think you’ve got what it takes, the suicide curry involves the signing of a declaration form as you order...
Delicious food, good service & reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. It's great to have such a nice local restaurant. We will definitely be returning.
Food was excellent, as was the service. Very pleasant and helpful staff. This was our first experience of the Purple Pakora and we will definitely be returning.
Excellent restaurant, wonderful staff, fantastic food and a great time. This is a fabulous restaurant and I can't wait to go back again. It is brilliant.
A very family friendly atmosphere with great food and a good choice of dishes. All courses served on time making for a wonderful dining experience
Food was lovely, really well cooked and presented with a great range of choice. Only grumble was price of the drinks, best part of £3 for a soft drink, the same as a half pint of beer and around £5 for a pint of cobra so half our bill was drinks alone. (Plus one of our party was pregnant so could Only drink soft drinks). Decor is smart and all restaurant seemed to be very clean and well maintained.
The restaurant had no record of our booking & made us feel like they were doing us a favour by fitting us in. I was told I should book by phone really ? It was my daughters birthday meal so this wasn't a great start... The food was delicious & the venue was lovely & spotless, the service let it down a bit as we weren't offered the chance to get any more drinks after our initial ones & had to stop a passing waiter. My sister also had to pay at the bar after waiting to avoid missing our train home as our requested bill didn't arrive. Good service would have massively improved our experience.
Great food, lovely place but the reservation didn't work when booking online (got told this was a fault with the website - if they knew this they should say on the website or sort the issue out). Didn't get offered further drinks, even though we were sat with empty glasses with our meal. Other than the small issues mentioned an overall good place to go.
Great food although be warned the nam breads are MASSIVE! Service on the night we visited was pretty poor though. We waited half an hour for our table even though we'd booked. And then had to wait ages at the table to order drinks, then order food & then for the food to actually arrive. It was good when we did eventually get it but the poor service puts me off wanting to go again
Brilliant food and lovely wait staff! We didn't wait long for our table to be ready and even though the restaurant was busy, it didn't feel crowded and we were served in a timely manner. Will definitely go back for more!
We often eat at this restaurant and love the food and the atmosphere, however on this particular ocassion the food was not as good I.e very small portions even the popodoms were smaller! The chicken korma was watery and hardly any chicken in it in particular. Maybe it was just an off day hopefully it will better again when we return.
Lighting can cause a problem with reading the menu. New member of staff who needs more training as when my drink was placed on table fingers were put inside glass. Complaint made to manager who agred that this was unacceptable. Other than this service and food was good.
The restaurant serves great food and most enjoyable. My only thought is that they should ask you for your drink order as soon as you sit down rather than let you wait for 10 mins when you have been seated. Other than that 5 star food
we enjoyed both the place and the food the staff are very polite and friendly , the food was of a very high standard we would recommend this place to anyone, good food lovely environment and great staff good job guys keep the good work up
We were very pleased with both the service and the food, which was both flavoursome and well presented. The naan breads were absolutely huge! Even one between two is a struggle to finish. We will certainly go again.
Lovely meal for Fathers day. Great service, great atmosphere. Will be back in the future. As a family or as a couple it is an ideal location for a lovely meal. Can heartily recommend the chicken shashlik.
Semi rural location, ample parking, friendly staff, delicious food, reasonably priced at £60 for 2 people that's for 2 courses with a couple of drinks. Casual dress code, smokers catered for, with chairs and tables outside, complete with candles and ash trays.
2nd time we`ve eaten here....the place gets better. lovely meal yet again. The staff are very polite . its well worth the drive from Glossop to Marple for such great service....
Great place to go to with plenty of parking spaces, warm welcome and good service. The food was fresh and tasty, I have recommended this resturant to all my friends.
We are regular visitors to purple pakora and would thoroughly recommend it. The service is attentive, friendly and professional, the surroundings are cleans and modern, and the food is delicious!
Fabulous food, nice warm friendly atmosphere and great night overall, we especially enjoyed the naan bread and it was my sisters birthday and the staff made it very special
Amazing from entering the restaurant to leaving. The staff were considerate and went above and beyond to cater for me and my wife, most importantly the food was amazing.
The food as always was delicious and extremely filling. The staff were friendly and on the ball when it came to clearing and cleaning tables. Overall still one of the best curry houses around.
Amazing food and service as always. I cannot fault this place. We took our relatives with us and it was their first time they thoroughly enjoyed it also
Lovely experience food gorgeous... It was our second time here and our visit was as good as the first. The staff are very friendly and attentive!.Would definitely recommend! 😀
First time we had eaten at Purple Pakora......the staff are brilliant and polite. Food was the best ! I would say slightly expensive but worth it......couldn't fault anything.
Great service as always!!! The food is tasty and good portion sizes. Always accommodating to large parties and helpful for birthdays. Can't wait to go back .
Excellent food and service The restaurant is very spacious and well decorated The menu as traditional and a great special selection And it is very reasonabley priced
We found the restaurant to be very clean and welcoming and not too noisy for a Saturday night. Food and service were both excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient. Would go again
We ate at the Purple Pakora on new year's eve. All five of our party found something different to try and enjoyed our selection very much. The service was friendly and helpful.
Great food at a great price would definitely return again. So much food on the banquet even took some home as we xouldnt manage it all
Nice atmosphere. Average food. The lamb was tough and chewy so disappointing. Nice big prawns and tasty sauce but lacking seasoning. Drinks extremely expensive £6.90 for a pint of lager is over the top. Service pleasant but quite slow.
Lovely food, service a little slow at times, and I was surprised they didn't seem to have a record of my reservation so I had to wait for a table.
Great service and great food again! Always a great experience every time we've been. We will definitely be going again in the very near future.
Fantastic food, service and attentive staff. It's a very clean and well kept establishment, we will be returning again in the future. Cheers guys! :-)
Fabulous place. The staff are very friendly and the food is absolutely amazing! This was our second time there and I would definitely go back.
The food and service were excellent , as usual. We have been four times in the last few months and will no doubt go again.
Third visit. Food was delicious as usual. The portions are large so make sure you are hungry before you go, We certainly will go again.
Great parking next to restaurant. Greeted by really friendly staff who could not have done more throughout the evening. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.
We had a mixed starter for 2 which was not worth the 8.95. Our main meals were ok but we had different curry but both tasted very similar. I think they use the same base sauce
The food was really enjoyable and some really different choices. Service was good and very friendly. Will be going again in the New Year sooner rather than later!
Food and service excellent as usual. Only criticism was that the subdued lighting was such, we could barely read the menu, so gave 5 instead of 6.
Excellent fresh tasting food in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly approach from the staff good selection range on the menu and reasonably priced - definitely recommend
Overall, we had great time - the food was excellent and the service was really friendly. Even though it isn't the cheapest, definitely worth every penny!
This was our first visit here, the food was very good, the staff friendly and an all round good experience. We will most certainly return.
Great food! Unfortunately service was a little slow but we were a large party and the restaurant was full. Lovely night had by us all.
The food is delicious and the staff are very welcoming and friendly, lovely atmosphere would definitely recommend to others and will definitely be going back.
The food was excellent but the service wasnt great, there didnt seem to be anybody around to ask questions or get atention it was all waiting for them to come to you, And the restuarant was very dar
Food was nice. Bit pricey for what it was though. Great service. The waiters were very attentive and the good didn't take too long to arrive.
No longer serving lal toofan which was the only reason I go to this restaurant now that it's gone I'll find somewhere else food average
Ridiculously bad service. Drinks were forgotten completely, took ages or were wrong. One main course didn't arrive at all. It took 3 hours in total because of the chaos. It wasn't even full. Shocking
