About Purple Pakora - Marple Bridge

A favourite among the curry loving population of Marple, Purple Pakora have established a name for themselves as one of the best Indian eateries in the area, with a number of locations scattered around Cheshire. A cosmopolitan take on a classic curry house, at Purple Pakora the decor is elegant and stylish and menu fuses together time-honored recipes and modern dishes. Kick things off with the cheesy tikka (chicken tikka and baby potatoes smothered in melted cheese) before moving on to a curry – you’ll find all of your favourites on the menu alongside some specialities. We recommend the jingha bhuna (king prawns stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, spice, garlic, ginger and herbs). You’ll find Purple Pakora on Marple Bridge’s Brabyns Brow, on the edge of Brabyns Park. Book a table and head on over!

Further Information

It’s no overstatement to say that Purple Pakora has become the name that people in Cheshire associate with high quality Indian cuisine. What began as one restaurant has now become three and, to be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised if there are more to come. The Marple Bridge restaurant is an ultra modern space set amongst the rural beauty of Brabyns Brow and inside you’ll receive the outstanding service that is undoubtedly one of the reasons why Purple Pakora has become so popular. In fact, it’s no exaggeration to say that curry lovers from all over Stockport make the trip out here just because they know it’s the best Indian food for miles.

Here in Marple Bridge the Purple Pakora menu is wonderfully varied and every dish is prepared to order using ingredients that are as fresh as can be found. The chefs here will never rush their craft and the results are a delight. You’ll find your kormas, your baltis, your bhunas, of course, but the signatures are what makes Purple Pakora the best in all of Stockport: lemon tikka masala, roast lamb chops on the bone, ginger kofta, even caramel or chocolate korma! These are Indian creations you won’t have tried before, and if you think you’ve got what it takes, the suicide curry involves the signing of a declaration form as you order...

Really nice curry and lovely restaurant highly recommend. They do special currys such as caramel and korma which I've never seen anywhere else and both are lovely

Food was lovely, really well cooked and presented with a great range of choice. Only grumble was price of the drinks, best part of £3 for a soft drink, the same as a half pint of beer and around £5 for a pint of cobra so half our bill was drinks alone. (Plus one of our party was pregnant so could Only drink soft drinks). Decor is smart and all restaurant seemed to be very clean and well maintained.

All five of us enjoyed the food - even the one of us who does not eat Indian food and opted for fish fingers. My Tandoori mix was a very generous portion and the Vindaloo sauce with it appropriately spicy. The service was friendly and timely. We'll certainly be going back there. Happy to give a 6 as could not fault it.

The restaurant had no record of our booking & made us feel like they were doing us a favour by fitting us in. I was told I should book by phone really ? It was my daughters birthday meal so this wasn't a great start... The food was delicious & the venue was lovely & spotless, the service let it down a bit as we weren't offered the chance to get any more drinks after our initial ones & had to stop a passing waiter. My sister also had to pay at the bar after waiting to avoid missing our train home as our requested bill didn't arrive. Good service would have massively improved our experience.

Great food, lovely place but the reservation didn't work when booking online (got told this was a fault with the website - if they knew this they should say on the website or sort the issue out). Didn't get offered further drinks, even though we were sat with empty glasses with our meal. Other than the small issues mentioned an overall good place to go.

Great food although be warned the nam breads are MASSIVE! Service on the night we visited was pretty poor though. We waited half an hour for our table even though we'd booked. And then had to wait ages at the table to order drinks, then order food & then for the food to actually arrive. It was good when we did eventually get it but the poor service puts me off wanting to go again

Brilliant food and lovely wait staff! We didn't wait long for our table to be ready and even though the restaurant was busy, it didn't feel crowded and we were served in a timely manner. Will definitely go back for more!

We often eat at this restaurant and love the food and the atmosphere, however on this particular ocassion the food was not as good I.e very small portions even the popodoms were smaller! The chicken korma was watery and hardly any chicken in it in particular. Maybe it was just an off day hopefully it will better again when we return.

Lighting can cause a problem with reading the menu. New member of staff who needs more training as when my drink was placed on table fingers were put inside glass. Complaint made to manager who agred that this was unacceptable. Other than this service and food was good.

The restaurant serves great food and most enjoyable. My only thought is that they should ask you for your drink order as soon as you sit down rather than let you wait for 10 mins when you have been seated. Other than that 5 star food

We were very pleased with both the service and the food, which was both flavoursome and well presented. The naan breads were absolutely huge! Even one between two is a struggle to finish. We will certainly go again.

Semi rural location, ample parking, friendly staff, delicious food, reasonably priced at £60 for 2 people that's for 2 courses with a couple of drinks. Casual dress code, smokers catered for, with chairs and tables outside, complete with candles and ash trays.
