Beer, wine, food. That just about sums up the order of the day at this Darwin restaurant and bar, an unmissable art deco-style temple to good libations and down to earth dining on the corner of Smith Street and Bennett Street in the CBD. Besides the great range of drinks and fantastic food – the whole grilled fish comes highly recommended and is one of the new chef’s specialties – Rorkes is also a destination for all sorts of events, from live music to ping pong championships and DJ sets. Don’t forget that Rorkes puts on a mean ‘Rorkes Recovery’ Sunday special, with discount bloody marys to help you face yet another day of … beer, wine, food.
Unfortunately we got turned away as my friend is aboriginal and he was wearing a singlet, they said it was because he was wearing a singlet?, though other people there were wearing singlets¿ it's a really hot day so we are very hungry and looking for food. It's his birthday and he's really upset. I'm furious. This is blatant discrimination
Nice atmosphere.. at the end of Darwin cbd close to all attractions. Outside umbrellas and beer garden. Inside has nice interior with good vibes :)
With a Coeliac in the family, we were very exited to see all the GF options on the online menu. On arrival, it was dissapointing that the actual menu had far fewer options. However, the GF calamari was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, the GF sweet potato fries equally delicious - some of the best calamari and sweet potao fries we tasted in Darwin. Hopefully the menu changes often and next time around includes more GF shareplates. Nonetheless, we will be back for the calamari :)
