Combining the rustic charm of a traditional trattoria with trendy modern details, San Lorenzo provides an Italian dining experience like no other in Washington. Located on New Road in the Harraton area, San Lorenzo’s cosy ambience and stylish decor creates the perfect backdrop for a number of different occasions, drawing in foodies for all over, whether its for a lunchtime catch up, a big family meal or a romantic date in the evening. Start off by sharing some antipasto like the calamari fritti, buccia de patate (potato skins with garlic and BBQ dips) or some arancini ai funghi (risotto rice balls with wild mushroom and mozzarella, breadcrumbed, fried and then served with truffle mayonnaise and tomato).
Made from scratch using a traditional firebrick oven, San Lorenzo does pizza just like the Italians do. Choose between options like the lucifera topped with mozzarella, tomato, pepperoni, onions and chilli and the bolognese, a tomato base with bolognese beef and mozzarella. Other Italian staples on the menu at Washington’s San Lorenzo include an array of classic pastas, and meat and seafood mains like the pollo saltimbocca (chicken breast stuffed with sage and mozzarella, wrapped with parma ham and served with your choice of side) and the orata (sea bream with crushed new potatoes, gremolata, lemon and herb butter and seasonal greens). Complete your meal by going for some affogato or tiramisu – bellissimo!
once again no complaints whatsoever ! Keeps getting nicer and nice with each visit . Staff are brilliant , make such a fuss of our 2 yr old grandson , he loves it !
Amazing service, friendly staff, fab food, best place in Washington by far... can't fault it, from the bar service right through to food everything is top notch
Food and staff excellent . Will definitely recommend to my friends and family. We will be returning in the near future to try a different meal from the menus. Best lasagne I have had.
Lovely food, nice spacious restaurant,it was really wuiet as went on a lunchtime but we were looked after really well. Very good value for money.less than a tenner for special menu
I went to San Lorenzo with a friend for our Christmas meal. We arrived and immediately received great service. We ordered our food which came promptly and tasted delicious. We ordered a bottle of prosecco (£15 on a Friday!) and enjoyed everything. Once we had finished our meal we moved into the newly designed bar area where we were able to sit and enjoy some drinks. There was no loud music and it wasn't full of people which meant that we were able sit and talk comfortably. We received great service and the staff were lovely, I would highly recommend.
Great evening, helpful, friendly and knowledge staff. Free bottle of prosecco for my wife's birthday made the night complete for the party of four. Would recommend San Lorenzo if you want a good time with good food and friendly atmosphere. Thanks to all of the staff.
Very clean and presentable restaurant. Good choice of food and well priced, food was presented well, was hot and the portions were just right. Sauce on the pasta dish I had was the best I have ever tasted. Only complaint was waited a while for desserts but this was noticed by management and soon rectified (did not cause us a problem as we were not in a hurry). Would definitely visit again and would highly recommend. Mint sweets would have been nice on the little tray with the bill.
Booked for Sunday lunch but the carvery had finished by the time we got there. We were a little disappointed because we'd been raving about it to a friend who came with us . But the attention of the staff and the quality of the food we were served soon got rid of our disappointment. Our 2 year old grandson was with us and spent his the behind the bar and in the kitchen playing with the staff. Excellent , can't wait to go back again !
We dined at San Lorenzo with friends for the early evening £9.95 two course special which was excellent, with any pasta dish you can choose any pasta you fancy. We have dined here twice before and and the standard was again 1st class.
Another lovely meal at San Lorenzo. Staff as usual were pleasant and attentive. Portions sizes are really good. Service was extremely fast this time and food arrived very quickly however we werent rushed and stayed at the table a couple of hours chatting.
I had requested a reservation a few days earlier for a quiet table for two. However upon arrival they only had a table for two in the centre of a very busy restaurant. There was another table available where we sat but we were getting cold drafts from the door when people entered and left. However the food was very nice, fillet steak was substantial and cooked to perfection and the Gorgonzola was sauce lovely. However I think its a bit overpriced. I would recommend and I will probably return, may be a bit later in the evening midweek around 8:30 when its a bit quieter but that's a personal preference.
Food was good, as was the service, and the staff were pleasant and friendly. The only thing lacking was atmosphere. When it was Amiros there was a buzz about the place. Maybe when San Lorenzo is more established the buzz will return.
Food was fine and service was fine for a lunch time. We did have to wait a while for a dessert menu which I had to request myself from the bar. The area we were sitting was really cold but think that may have to do with the area we were eating in not being very busy (the bar). We will go back but not on a lunch time and next time we will be sitting in the restaurant to eat not the bar area. Price was ok but couldn't find any special deals in the menu we were given.
Went on Sunday at 4pm staff were all excellent as was the food, this is a brilliant restaurant and a breath of fresh air for the Washington area. I would highly recommend it - the pizza was just amazing only disappointment was the had run out of tiramisu- so I will have to go back to sample this. Really well priced and great value for money
Top marks. San Lorenzo is by far the best place to dine in Washington. Great food and great friendly staff. The presto menu is great value for money and lots of choice.
Food was fantastic - I had king prawn tagliatelle with tomato and chilli, very tasty and generous with the prawns. Slightly disappointed that the duck had run out, but these things happen - also charged for potato side dish with chicken which was meant to be included with meal, but bill was reduced when we challenged it without complaint. No hesitation in recommending this place, but make sure you book - it's popular!
Restaurant is much improved from previous layout. Staff are welcoming and service is very good. The food was really nice and served well. Only criticism is the special lunch menu for Sunday's is a little confusing and the waiter did not explain it correctly when questioned. Please note - If you have the Sunday carvery option this is not included as part of the 2 or 3 course special price.
The food was delicious and good value for the happy hour. The kids menu is fantastic and they get to make their own pizzas! The decor is lovely and the atmosphere good, the only thing that let our experience down was the time it took to be served. It's busy during happy hour but they only had two staff members on the floor and they were ridiculously over worked.
Excellent service and food. Staff attentive and courteous. Just the right time between courses even though the restaurant was very busy. Have seen some reviews saying it is expensive. It may be a little more than some other local restaurants but you can tell in the quality of the food. Well worth it. Will be back
Easy to book. Food was good and plenty of it. Would have liked a serving spoon for the vegetables but we should have asked for one. Service was good but it would have been nice if servers had asked if we wanted any sauces with our Sunday lunches. When we asked for some it came straight away but would be nice if we were asked rather than us asking. Well decorated restaurant. We will return to try out the Italian menu in the future.
A very pleasant experience. Staff were courteous and attentive from beginning to end. Although there was a problem with one of the pasta dishes Max sorted it out and listened to our comments and took them seriously even discussing them with the chef. All sorted very amicably. I would give them 10 out of 10 for the service given. We will be back for another visit.
Lovely food and great atmosphere! Good service- you probably need to book to get a table as it's very popular! Always treated well at San Lorenzo!
There were 6 of us celebrating a birthday and we had a lovely evening. Food was of a good standard and the staff were really friendly and service was great. Love the addition of the bar next door now which really enhances the experience but it still needs a bit of work to make it feel a bit more comfortable
Took our 2 children (8 and 10). We had a great time. Food was fantastic and rapport with the staff and Esp the manageress with the kids was fantastic. The kids absolutely loved it(made their own pizzas) - felt like the Italian family experience.! We will be back x
What a lovely night. The food was fantastic as usual, and the service was great. We had a waiter called Gianni and he was wonderful, really friendly but very professional and courteous. We had a great time and the staff are exceptional. We will definitely be back for more.
What a fantastic restaurant. The fiood was delicious but I have to say we've been to a lot of restaurants and the service and attention to detail was outstanding at this restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were so polite and friendly and funny. Would highly recommend 😊👍
Another excellent meal, well served by a very good staff. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 6 is because it was Mother's Day and like most restaurants it was very busy, noisy and with lots of children. I should have realised it was Mother's Day but as my mother died a few years ago the date is less significant. Would always recommend this restaurant.
Food was amazing and really good value, staff were lovely too and were great with the kids. Fantastic place, would highly recommend. Early bird menu is perfect for an early supper. We were all done within an hour which is perfect with kids in tow.
Great menu to choose from, we were offered the set menu which was good value but opted for something new from the main menu. Service was good and the food was lovely to look at as well as eat. Will be booking again.
Lovely setting and a real improvement since it's changed hands and been refurbished Nice menu with a good choice for happy hour and generous portions. Food was really tasty and the pizza was particular delicious! Slick service and attentive staff. Definitely will return.
Just had a lovely family meal my grandson got to make his own pizza very good fun! Service was very good no long waits and it was service with a smile very good food and very reasonable price will return again soon!
The interior has been updated and is now light and airy, with a vintage feel, the kitchen is open so you can see some of the food being prepared. We chose from the special menu and had the salmon which was lovely.
The Service was friendly and all four of our meals were delicious and well presented. I would highly recommend San Lorenzo and will be returning
Lovely food and great service, with special mention to the Italian lady that works front of house...I have recently had shoulder and wrist surgery and she kindly cut up my food discretely and attentive checked up on me throughout the meal.
I went with my wife, son and granddaughter. The food was lovely and the service very good.my granddaughter had a pizza and she even put her own toppings on herself before it was took in the kitchen to be cooked.nice touch
San Lorenzo was particularly busy last night and large groups, unfortunately it was extremely noisy and as me and my husband were sat next to 2 large parties. Think the seating arrangement needs looking at. Good food as always though.
Fab food once again. Nutella Calzone is something you have to try. It was very smokey in the restaurant last time we went but they seem to have sorted that issue out. Friendly staff and reasonable priced food.
Restaurant was initially very quiet, started to pick up a bit later. Food was generally nice, not the best Italians I've had though but nice. My daughters food was overdone but felt like I shouldn't/couldn't say anything to the scary Italian lady who took our order. She was very intimidating to say the least...eek!
Excellent restaurant. Easy booking. Very helpful staff. Wide ranging menu beautifully prepared and served. Would recommend to both family groups and couples. Wine and beer selection was very good and also a good range of cocktails.
Enjoyed whole experience. Boking was so easy.No problems and I liked the reminder. The restaurant w was lovely and will certainly go back. That was the best lasgne that I have ever had in my entire life!
really nice night , staff were so friendly , good food and very good service. We were running late because of work call out but were still made welcome and not a nuisance at all
Took my 11 year old and 5 year old. Was one of the best meals out I've had in years. Food was fantastic. It was a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be going back soon.
Had a really good time , great service , good food & great atmosphere . Reasonably priced offerings around three courses which didn't have the feel of compromised quality for price ...Very Good.
great atmosphere, table was ready on time and service from the friendly staff was great. there were no delays between courses, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Overall, a good night out.
Great atmosphere & prezzo menu good value ... The food was wonderful as usual added to by the prompt friendly service. Have tried standard menu and some really different enjoyable dishes there too.
Lovely food with very quick service even though the restaurant was very busy. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being prepared and cooked.
Excellent service and brilliant food. The restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere and there was no delays even though it was very busy the restaurant. The house wine was also very good
Lovely food and the manager went out of his way to be very helpful. Also has a great atmosphere. Only downside was on coming out the wooden decking was dangerously slippy and one of our party fell badly.
Lovely food. Delicious Sunday lunch and lots of it. Goid range of vegetables. Super quality chicken fingers for our 7 year old. The sticky pudding was devine. Service was very good.
Good service and good food at a reasonable price. No difference in the food served at happy hour to main dining time.. Fresh ingredients cooked well and a lot of choice
