Combining the rustic charm of a traditional trattoria with trendy modern details, San Lorenzo provides an Italian dining experience like no other in Washington. Located on New Road in the Harraton area, San Lorenzo’s cosy ambience and stylish decor creates the perfect backdrop for a number of different occasions, drawing in foodies for all over, whether its for a lunchtime catch up, a big family meal or a romantic date in the evening. Start off by sharing some antipasto like the calamari fritti, buccia de patate (potato skins with garlic and BBQ dips) or some arancini ai funghi (risotto rice balls with wild mushroom and mozzarella, breadcrumbed, fried and then served with truffle mayonnaise and tomato).
Made from scratch using a traditional firebrick oven, San Lorenzo does pizza just like the Italians do. Choose between options like the lucifera topped with mozzarella, tomato, pepperoni, onions and chilli and the bolognese, a tomato base with bolognese beef and mozzarella. Other Italian staples on the menu at Washington’s San Lorenzo include an array of classic pastas, and meat and seafood mains like the pollo saltimbocca (chicken breast stuffed with sage and mozzarella, wrapped with parma ham and served with your choice of side) and the orata (sea bream with crushed new potatoes, gremolata, lemon and herb butter and seasonal greens). Complete your meal by going for some affogato or tiramisu – bellissimo!
As always, a lovely evening at San Lorenzo. Great staff, food, atomosphere and service. Cannot fault it. Best italian restaurant in Washington by a mile.
The food is very nice. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you.a fantastic place to take children as they get to put the toppings on their own pizzas.
Just had a fantastic meal...again! staff are lovely and helpful and the service was brilliant! would highly recommend this place 😀
First visit but we thoroughly enjoyed the meal - ample portions. Great value for money, pleasant staff and nice surroundings. Also, good selection of drinks. Will definitely be going again.
I went to San Lorenzo with a friend for our Christmas meal. We arrived and immediately received great service. We ordered our food which came promptly and tasted delicious. We ordered a bottle of prosecco (£15 on a Friday!) and enjoyed everything. Once we had finished our meal we moved into the newly designed bar area where we were able to sit and enjoy some drinks. There was no loud music and it wasn't full of people which meant that we were able sit and talk comfortably. We received great service and the staff were lovely, I would highly recommend.
Before we arrived I had telephoned the restaurant to ask to add another person on to the table, which they said was not a problem and would be done. This wasn't done when we arrived and my Dad, who's birthday we were celebrating got shoved on the end. This wouldn't have been a problem had there not been a 10 inch gap behind him that everyone kept trying to squeeze through for access, and to get to the toilets. Another party came in to celebrate a birthday and we're treat to two bottles of prosecco, I understand you have to sign up to a mailing list for this, but they were aware we were celebrating a birthday as I had brought cake and cards, some form of acknowledgement would have even been nice. Service was slow, no atmosphere, no music and was very transactional. Food disappointing, found cling film in my lasagne, the cost of which was taken off my bill, which I appreciated, and carbonara was tasteless. Not a fantastic experience, and had similar at San Lorenzo Beamish. I doubt we will return.
Great evening, helpful, friendly and knowledge staff. Free bottle of prosecco for my wife's birthday made the night complete for the party of four. Would recommend San Lorenzo if you want a good time with good food and friendly atmosphere. Thanks to all of the staff.
Very clean and presentable restaurant. Good choice of food and well priced, food was presented well, was hot and the portions were just right. Sauce on the pasta dish I had was the best I have ever tasted. Only complaint was waited a while for desserts but this was noticed by management and soon rectified (did not cause us a problem as we were not in a hurry). Would definitely visit again and would highly recommend. Mint sweets would have been nice on the little tray with the bill.
Booked for Sunday lunch but the carvery had finished by the time we got there. We were a little disappointed because we'd been raving about it to a friend who came with us . But the attention of the staff and the quality of the food we were served soon got rid of our disappointment. Our 2 year old grandson was with us and spent his the behind the bar and in the kitchen playing with the staff. Excellent , can't wait to go back again !
We dined at San Lorenzo with friends for the early evening £9.95 two course special which was excellent, with any pasta dish you can choose any pasta you fancy. We have dined here twice before and and the standard was again 1st class.
Another lovely meal at San Lorenzo. Staff as usual were pleasant and attentive. Portions sizes are really good. Service was extremely fast this time and food arrived very quickly however we werent rushed and stayed at the table a couple of hours chatting.
I had requested a reservation a few days earlier for a quiet table for two. However upon arrival they only had a table for two in the centre of a very busy restaurant. There was another table available where we sat but we were getting cold drafts from the door when people entered and left. However the food was very nice, fillet steak was substantial and cooked to perfection and the Gorgonzola was sauce lovely. However I think its a bit overpriced. I would recommend and I will probably return, may be a bit later in the evening midweek around 8:30 when its a bit quieter but that's a personal preference.
Food was good, as was the service, and the staff were pleasant and friendly. The only thing lacking was atmosphere. When it was Amiros there was a buzz about the place. Maybe when San Lorenzo is more established the buzz will return.
Food was fine and service was fine for a lunch time. We did have to wait a while for a dessert menu which I had to request myself from the bar. The area we were sitting was really cold but think that may have to do with the area we were eating in not being very busy (the bar). We will go back but not on a lunch time and next time we will be sitting in the restaurant to eat not the bar area. Price was ok but couldn't find any special deals in the menu we were given.
Went on Sunday at 4pm staff were all excellent as was the food, this is a brilliant restaurant and a breath of fresh air for the Washington area. I would highly recommend it - the pizza was just amazing only disappointment was the had run out of tiramisu- so I will have to go back to sample this. Really well priced and great value for money
Top marks. San Lorenzo is by far the best place to dine in Washington. Great food and great friendly staff. The presto menu is great value for money and lots of choice.
Very impressed with San Lorenzo. Food was very good, service friendly and attentive and the decor was smart. It is lovely to have such a good Italian in the local area.
Food was fantastic - I had king prawn tagliatelle with tomato and chilli, very tasty and generous with the prawns. Slightly disappointed that the duck had run out, but these things happen - also charged for potato side dish with chicken which was meant to be included with meal, but bill was reduced when we challenged it without complaint. No hesitation in recommending this place, but make sure you book - it's popular!
Restaurant is much improved from previous layout. Staff are welcoming and service is very good. The food was really nice and served well. Only criticism is the special lunch menu for Sunday's is a little confusing and the waiter did not explain it correctly when questioned. Please note - If you have the Sunday carvery option this is not included as part of the 2 or 3 course special price.
The food was delicious and good value for the happy hour. The kids menu is fantastic and they get to make their own pizzas! The decor is lovely and the atmosphere good, the only thing that let our experience down was the time it took to be served. It's busy during happy hour but they only had two staff members on the floor and they were ridiculously over worked.
