More about the restaurant: Sangria

Parramatta’s Phillip Street is a culinary hotspot in this part of Sydney, and just across from the Park Royal Hotel is a cafe and bar with more than a hint of Spanish blood in its veins. Sangria isn’t simply a tapas and wine bar, though. Sangria came to fame when it launched its Biggest Breakfast Challenge – if you can stomach four fried eggs, four rashers of bacon, four slices of toast, chips, two hash browns, a Spanish chorizo, grilled tomato, sauteed mushrooms and baby spinach (come on, it’s just baby spinach) you eat for free. Otherwise you cough up the dough, as the saying goes. Kyle Sandilands of KIIS 1065 did it, and so can you. Or you can simply skip breakfast and get one of the best value lunch deals in the neighbourhood!

Thinking about making a Sangria booking?

Famous Sydney gut-busting food competitions aside, Sangria runs a tight breakfast setup starting early at its Phillip Street cafe and restaurant for Parramatta locals in search of good coffee and freshly squeezed juices, eggs benny, Spanish chorizo omelettes, double-stacked pancakes, a simple and light eggs your way on sourdough option or the chance to build your own plate up from poached, scrambled or fried eggs on sourdough with a range of sides and add-ons. Trust us, if you’re hungry it’s safer to go large this way!

It’s always good to check back with Sangria because the guys in the kitchen at this Parramatta cafe and restaurant are a rootless bunch, liable to chuck up a day-long special or two on the board, never to be seen again. The Shrek breakfast is one such corker, perfect if you’re feeling green around the gills and, like all the breakfasts, available all day over the weekend. Some of the best value lunchtime meal deals are another forte at Sangria, offering Sydney faves like chicken schnitzel alongside lamb skewer pincho salads, burgers and pasta, veggie paella, steaks and seafood, all for crazy low prices.
