Amazing food at a fabulous price! And the staff are very accommodating. I have social anxiety and requested a seat by the window and they were happy to facilitate this. Great staff and customer service also.

We enjoyed the different varieties of food we had and the service was also very good.

We love this place. We've been many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Last night we were celebrating our 66th anniversary and can no longer manage the generous banquet. We shared a selection of entrees, including the wonderful mixed sushi and sashimi boat. Wonderful!!!

Thursday 15th January 2026 I booked Sapporo Japanese restaurant in Mitcham for an anniversary dinner. It is near Mitcham Station and opposite the Mitcham Hotel. We used the latter’s car park. It’s BYO wine, so I brought along a Giant Steps Circle of Fifths Chardonnay, which I had bought at the winery mid last year just after release. Corkage at $3 each was very reasonable. The banquet for two was more than enough for a couple in their seventies – excellent quality and great value too. It was busy; there wer couples like us and larger groups of six or so. The one chef, a manager and a trainee waitress did their best to keep everyone in food a drink. A tip was well deserved.

Excellent banquet, everything was delicious and the staff were attentive.

The overall dining experience was pleasant. The customer service was great. The sashimi and sushi were fresh and nicely prepared.

The service was too slow and some things that should have been hot were only just warm.

We were a Party of 4 and had a great selection of entrees and a couple of main dishes. Overall every dish was delicious and we struggled to finish in the end. Definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. Highly recommend the MORIAWASE as there was something for everyone's tastes. The Yakitori was melt in your mouth chicken with great flavours. The OKONOMIYAKI was my favourite dish but you can't go past the tempura dish TEMPURA MORIAWASE which had a good mix of seafood and vegetables.

Food is lovely but they do not have enough wait staff. We waited 35 mins for first contact for a drink and an hour before we could order food. Both times we had to ask for service.
