Lovely food, very polite service. Great atmosphere very happy with our experience

Each dish was tasty as always. We’ve eaten here many times and it feels like the plates are getting more expensive and a lot smaller so not thrilled about value for money but I won’t give up on them.

Amazing, friendly service and authentic, delicious food! Our orders always come super fast and the place has such a great atmosphere. I normally don't bother with reviews, but I absolutely love coming here, it's always a great time.

Again we had the buffet option as most other diners appeared to be doing. It’s obviously a success as the back room (which we prefer) was fairly full.

We took advantage of the offer to have any selection of dishes from the menu at a fixed price per person. A great initiative.

Very authentic Japanese pub style restaurant, great food and range of drinks. Can’t go too far wrong with that formula. We’ll be back.

Seated in a cold, draughty table. Drinks took 30 mins to arrive. Main meal served first followed by tapas & soup.

Excellent food. Friendly staff. Was most appreciative of the subtle extra step for the kid, (special drinking straw and cup with hidden whale in it were great fun for him)

Another good meal at Shinwa. We had the tuna sushi roll rather than our usual spider roll (with the soft shell crab) and found this to be very good - so certainly and alternative option. We also really liked the chicken okonomiyaki, which has plenty of vegetables with it. The back room, where we normally sit, didn’t appear to be in use when we arrived so we tried one of the tables in the main part of the restaurant. We wouldn’t do this again as we had some difficulty getting out as we are both in our 70s and not as nimble as we once were. Still, overall a very enjoyable experience!

The place looks tired and needs a makeover. Identical decor in over 8 years. Quite dirty. The food was just okay, with a menu refresh needed as well.

We come here when we visit Melbourne as the food is lovely and the service is great.

Wonderful fresh food so delicately cooked and presented. Attentive service, helpful and turned music down so we could hear each other talk.

Tasty food however small portions for large prices, served steamed rice to the table 15mins prior to serving food. Overall experience was disappointing.

Serving quantity was very small and cannot justify the overpriced money value for each food item we’ve ordered. Wouldnt go back again.

It was pretty nice. I only wish the main meals had arrived all together. Or at least not so long between the arrival of the 1st and the last. But the food was very tasty and the staff pretty friendly.

Felt sorry for the serving staff, menu system sucks and for the price food was fairly ordinary, Tsushima was nice . Overall had a good night, but it is sad with the rising cost of going out that quality in so many places is diminishing, if cost is going up quality should match. Nice venue though and the booze was good, so much potential.

Food and atmosphere was good. Music was a bit too loud. Could not hear each other talking. Service was not good. Was an effort to get the attention of the waitress and when we did they did understand us.

Staff are lovely if a little inexperienced, but some were very new and said so from the start…no bill splitting is a little inconvenient but the food was good and the rooms were beautiful
