More about the restaurant: Spice World

Spice World in Haymarket Sydney, is not only a Chinese hotpot restaurant but so much more. When you start to walk up the stairs from the entrance on Sussex Street, you’re probably not expecting to be greeted by a pair of robot waiters holding mints and fruits, but it’s a good example of what’s to come. Spice World is an extremely quirky and novel dining experience in the largest hot pot restaurant in Sydney. Part of a Chinese chain that boasts a few hundred outlets world wide, you’re not going to want to miss this one. The food is excellent and the experience unforgettable. Offering single serve hot pots as well as big ones for large groups, with private dining areas also available – we highly recommend you book a table at Spice World.

Thinking about making a Spice World booking?

Dining at Spice World is as much an experience as it is a meal. Sydney’s largest Chinese hotpot restaurant is located on Sussex Street in Haymarket. As we said, you’ll greeted by robot waiters who not only hold treats but have televisions built into their stomachs that show Chinese game shows. Fortunately – or unfortunately depending on opinion – all the service is done by humans. Spice World boasts a range of stock broths but the signature is a traditional spicy soup. The next thing that’s a little out of the ordinary that you’re likely to notice is the bright orange Hello Kitty-shaped stock cube that will slowly melt into the soup as you sit there watching.

This is followed closely by a Barbie Doll dressed in an elegant evening gown of Wagyu beef, which you will slowly unwrap as you eat – she is wearing a bathing suit though, so don’t worry. The dipping sauces are a mix and match from the sauce bar with over 20 options to choose from, ranging from chopped vegetables to chilli oils and peanut butter. When you’ve finished eating you can indulge in Spice World’s extensive gaming arcade with a few hundred games to delight and distract. Sydney’s Haymarket might never be the same again, but one thing’s for sure, you won’t to miss this unforgettable experience. We really couldn’t recommend it more, so for great night out book now.
