The moment you step onto Steel Tree @ The Foreshore’s premises it’s hard to resist the urge to turn immediately to the seafood selection on the extensive menu of modern Australian cuisine. Located right on Mangles Bay at the head of Railway Terrace, diners can get away from the city centre (while remaining close by) and gaze out over the water to Garden Island as they enjoy set menus with suggestive names like Boardwalk Bargain, Seabreeze Supreme, Foreshore Feast and the Jewel of the Bay Deluxe. There’s far more on offer for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert at Steel Tree however, including smiling service that’s famous in Rockingham and as far as Perth and beyond. Advance bookings are strongly advised.
Steel Tree @ The Foreshore opens its Railway Terrrace premises early, just off Rockingham Beach Road and blessed with ample parking for those coming in from elsewhere in the city centre, whipping up breakfasts and superb coffee from 7:30am, making it a favourite for Rockingham locals heading down for some morning sand and surf along Mangles Bay, whose beautiful coastal shallows at the southern end of Cockburn Sound draw sea and sun worshippers from Mandura in the south and Perth in the north. An a la carte lunch selection is packed with modern Australian classics, with a diverse selection of dishes with roots in European and Southeast Asian culinary cultures, while the lunchtime set menu offers a solid introduction to penny-pinchers and the indecisive.
Indeed, Steel Tree @ The Foreshore’s forte are their lavish set menus, with the most luxurious of these, the Jewel of the Bay Deluxe, offering up a wealth of Western Australian seafood and other dishes packed with locally-sourced ingredients. Start with garlic black tiger prawns or sundried tomato and brie arancini, choose from bacon-wrapped Mount Barker chicken, Atlantic salmon or the Tender Ridge sirloin steak, and finish with chocolate brownie or the Cointreau and white chocolate cheesecake. A formidable permanent resident of a restaurant in Rockingham with easy connections to the city centre and further afield, Steel Tree is a major draw for foodies as far as Perth and Fremantle making their way down the coast for a slice of the finer things in life – to avoid disappointment, make a reservation in advance.
A relaxing environment sitting outdoors under the umbrella's. Great menu choices and the portion sizes were very generous. We were only disappointed we couldn't fit in the home-made scones & jam for a treat as our shared antipasto platters & a main meal each filled us up. Definitely recommend dining here for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Can’t think of a better place for lunch. Cool side of beach front, with cool breeze outside, good Small meals for a small price, no music to drown out conversation. Perfect.
Food and service was great one of our favourite places to dine out for lunch salad is always fresh and some meals are to big to finish
