Stringray Globe Cafe is a well-known bar, pizzeria and restaurant in East London, located right next to Bethnal Green’s Sunday flower market down Columbia Road. This restaurant dishes out delicious Italian-influenced dishes including their famous thin-crust pizzas and pastas. With vegetarian and gluten-free options aplenty, there’s something for everyone at this Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Wake up and smell the roses at Stringray Globe Cafe!
Stringray Globe Cafe’s Italian restaurant and pizzeria is packed on Sundays when the nearby Columbia Road flower market blooms into being. Of course, the restaurant puts on a range of great offers to lure you in at other times, too. Focusing on the food, specials change every day and make use of only seasonal produce, resulting in delicious, fresh main courses such as grilled rib-eye steak, duck breast, or the vegetarian pear and walnut salad with rocket, celery, blue cheese and pomegranate. East London diners – and flower fanatics visiting Bethnal Green from elsewhere in the city – have an incredible selection to choose from at Stringray Globe Cafe.
You can’t go past Stringray Globe Cafe’s pizzeria selection. Their pizzas are thin-crust, Italian-style, and are available with gluten-free versions as well as in convenient calzone form. The American Hot pizza is a spicy option, but that’s not all that’s on offer at this Columbia Road restaurant and bar. All the classic bases are covered, with regional variations on the Neapolitan pie keeping things interesting. East London’s Stringray, well-known to Haggerston and Bethnal Green locals as well as far-flung Londoners who make a habit of visiting the weekly Columbia Road flower market, is avowedly a restaurant with delicious food at great prices, but a whole lot more besides. Book your tables now, and don’t forget that Stringray boasts lovely courtyard seating for al fresco dining on summer days.
Me and my friends just love this place! Always friendly and it has very good prices and very tasty food. Just go and try it
Great food, value and service! Would definitely return if I'm in area again. Pleasingly close to Colombia road market and an affordable alternative to other places around there
Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Amazing food and great value for money. Would recommend 100% can't wait to go back. Also great location on beautiful columbia road.
Had a great meal here. Great pizzas as always as well as friendly service. Osy setring for this time of year. Will definitely be going back.
Visited here last night (Tuesday). Overall, not an impressive experience. The main issue was poor service - it is really hard to get the waiter's attention, despite the restaurant not being too busy. We sat down with menus and were greeted by the waiter, who asked us what drinks we would like but then left to answer the phone and did not return for ten minutes. Ordered a wine and a coke, but had to remind the waiter twice before we received them. Ordered polenta chips as a starter, which arrived before the aforementioned drinks, and they were terrible - tasted like nothing and appeared to be a very small portion for the charge of five pounds. Complained, and the waiter tried a polenta chip and agreed they were not good so took this item off our bill. Our mains, however, were quite nice - we had a pizza and a baked chicken dish. Took ten minutes to find the waiter so we could request the bill. Would not go back here.
Stringray Cafe is one of my favourite restaurants in East London - wonderful food, great wine (including a great Bulgarian selection), excellent atmosphere and lovely staff. And that's not to mention the incredibly affordable prices and generous portions. I've spend a number of lovely birthdays here. Book to avoid disappointment.
We have been here many times over the years and Stringray Globe Cafe never disappoints. The pizzas are tasty and good value, and the atmosphere is fun.
Great place in terms of environment and vibes - walking into Stingray on a cold night is like coming home and meeting friends. Pizza a is good, but not up to the sourdough artisan pizza competitors that are overtaking London - still, I have a feeling that the pizza might not be why people are coming to visit this favourite neighbourhood joint!
We have been coming to Stringray for years. It's a go to dinnner if we have visitors and is an easy choice on a busy weeknight. The service can sometimes be a bit patchy but the food is good and well priced.
Good food and great atmosphere - one of few places that offer a great gluten free pizza! The staff are lovely and its all reasonably priced - Pizza and a drink for around £10!
