More about the restaurant: Stray Neighbour
When we say Stray Neighbour is cool, what we mean is it’s a bar and restaurant that knows exactly who it is and exactly what it’s about. We mean it’s a place for all people without ever, ever trying too hard. For drinkers at the bar, diners over dinner or groups in search of celebration, we mean it’s a place that Preston can take pride in. For a friendly welcome, drinks and simple European-inspired food that radiates quality, there really is no better spot in this part of Melbourne. You’ll find Stray Neighbour on Preston Road. Cool.

Thinking about making a Stray Neighbour booking?
Stray Neighbour was born in 2015 from the passion of three local Preston friends that wanted to start a bar and restaurant they’d go to themselves. At the space on Preston Road, honest and great-quality food and drink was the mission and, allow us to stress, it’s been very much accomplished. With indoor and outdoor seating, Stray Neighbour consists of three different dining spaces to suit any occasion, whether that be dinner, a group celebration or drinks. At the bar you’ll find 12 rotating beer taps, a long wine list and plenty of classic cocktails.
Now for the food. The simple, clean and fresh menu is European in style and worth a trip from anywhere not just in Preston, but other surrounding areas of Melbourne, too. Also a Preston local, chef Romina Gagliardi is committed to quality and seasonal produce, and some of our favourites from her menu include Jerusalem artichokes with poached pear and ricotta, salmon pastrami with mustards and heirloom radish, as well as a great selection of curious bar snacks. For a larger bite, the pan-seared gnocchi with pumpkin, silverbeet and hazelnuts is one-of-a-kind. To end with a cliché that couldn’t be truer – this is a visit you will not forget.
