About The Bank Restaurant & Bar
The Bank is a premier dining destination just over the bridge and down Durham Rd from central Newcastle and Gateshead. But the locals of Lowfell may not want too many people finding about their favourite spot, housed in a beautiful old stone building that has stood since 1840, formerly housing the local bank. This is where the Bank gets its name, and the surrounding regions are where the Bank gets its phenomenal 21-day-aged steaks, with prime beef provided by farmers across Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland. Where the rest of the inspiration comes from for this amazing menu is a mystery - occasionally it’s from pub tradition, like a slow-braised steak and ale pie; sometimes it’s from international flavours, like Asian-infused tian of quinoa; and often it could be something plucked from the imagination - try the watermelon and chilli iced parfait and you will be thankful for human ingenuity. The Bank gets cosy quickly, so make sure to book a table if you want the full experience!

Excellent food, served quickly and the cocktails were amazing too. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. Definitely will be returning in the future.
Fabulous steaks - great service - good wine - nice atmosphere. We wanted to celebrate our birthdays with a tasty lunch & this was just right !
Fantastic meal, lovely staff, very attentive.great cocktails.we remember getting our mortgage there years ago, when it really was a bank.! It was our fourth visit,so that speaks for itself!
Great service. Menu had little choice but what it did have was cooked well. Great selection of cocktails, which is what we were looking for.
Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Good menu choice but the starters were over priced. 5 small prawns and nothing else for £9 was a rip off. Main course and dessert good. Service was average. Had to ask what the soup was and had to ask to order as no one came to us. Overall enjoyed the experience and would return
Dined here Friday 26th August, bar was busy and good atmosphere, restaurant was quite qiet for 8.30pm on a Friday night, only 2 other tables occupied. But apart from that, the service was excellent, as was the food, couldnt fault it. Will be back!
I visited The Bank with friends, straight from work on Wednesday 29/06. The Services was a little slow, however, we didn’t mind as when the food arrived it was gorgeous.
Lovely food and great service! Nothing is too much trouble and there's a great variety on the menu to suit all tastes. Steaks are fantastic in particular!
Very welcoming staff easy atmosphere. And excellent food at acceptable prices We will certainly go again especially as it is our LOCAL restaurant so no driving problems!!
Great service great food, how it should be! We went for dinner on Saturday night. It has to be one of the best places on the Fell.
I made an online booking but when we attended they had no record. There was a party upstairs so we sat in the bar which was very quiet and we enjoyed our meal.
Staff were great & really friendly food was fab :) will be booked again shortly as really enjoyed it and very reasonable price thanks all
