If you’re winding down from a beach day and find yourself in need of some restorative carbohydrates after all that surf, you must pay The Corner House on Sydney’s Bondi Road a visit for some Mediterranean munch. Their comprehensive menu encompasses slow-cooked roasts, seasonal specials and classic wood-fired pizza with brilliant fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. Split over two levels, this cool restaurant and cocktail bar was formerly a stop for the Bondi Tram, and they have even incorporated salvaged railway timber into the interior design of the place. Intrigued? Book a table at The Corner House today and see for yourself!
The Corner House on Bondi Road is a seriously cool spot. Part cocktail bar, part pizzeria, part Mediterranean eatery, The Corner House ticks all the right boxes whether you’re looking for some chill eats after work, a special celebration in the stunning function room, or you’re just heading out for a few drinks. Opened in 2010 and once a stop for the Bondi tram, this iconic building is now where you’ll find one of the most quintessential Bondi dining experiences we know of.
The first thing that strikes you upon entering this Sydney hotspot is the cool interiors complete with salvaged railway wood, acid-distressed steel floors and retro industrial furnishings. No Bondi bar is complete without a bangin’ cocktail list, so you’ll be glad to hear that you can get more jugs of sangria, Coco-Locos, and Amaretto Sours than you can shake a stick at at The Corner House. But what about the food, says you? Their Mediterranean menu has pasta, oysters, pizza, charcuterie boards, flatbreads, steaks, salads, and plenty more to choose from so we would advise going with quite the appetite, and people who like sharing their food! So, that’s your next night out in Sydney sorted then...
The restaurant was inviting, the staff friendly and efficient. The food selection was broad enough to provide real choice and the food when delivered was fresh and handmade. The atmosphere was cheery but not too noisy.
Great food (calamari and zucchini flowers filled with ricotta cheese as starters, then we ordered a pizza with veggies and prociutto and parpadelle with ragu, the dessert was amazing! semi fredo of white chocolate mousse with salted caramel, dark chocolate soil and strawberry gel), great atmosphere and the waitress really nice and helpful!
As soon as you walk in it is like a warm hug. The atmosphere was great and the smell of the wood fire oven was incredibly warming. The service was impressive from floor to kitchen. Every course was fabulous and the unexpected special deal was a welcome surprise. They have one every night.
