I have always loved this restaurant, me and my boyfriend go monthly and always for the buffet on a sunday or monday night purely because the food is unlike any other. Even though its a buffet, theres no walking around with your plates balancing all the food you can, simply order at the table from the massive selection on the buffet menu and then within a few minutes food gets delivered to your able freshly cooked. The atmosphere here is always amazing, its beautifully designed, also all of the staff are very friendly and attentive. I always go here when im having a cheat day or a bad day as its the 1 place that can cheer me up :)
We had the set Monday evening menu. Great choice of both starters and main courses and as much as you wanted all freshly prepared. Quality of food was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.
A Returning quest. Exceptional tasty food and service. We went on a Sunday before 4pm which gives you a buffet style menu, in which you can have as many starters as you like from menu, then add your main meals after. Portions were not large, but remember you can order to your required amount needed at a set price. Outstanding
Excellent as usual....!! I am always impressed by the food and the service here..This was no exception and it remains my fave restaurant in the local area
This place is one of if not the best restaurant ive visited for middle eastern food, and that's saying something as i love my food! Everything about the experience here is amazing, i love the way the buffet is set out, it excludes having to get up and down and walk around looking for whatever food you fancy while its sitting going cold. Instead you choose off the menu, say how many people its for and within 5 minutes its cooked fresh and delivered to your table in a beautiful arrangement which just tops it off. The buffet menu has around 30 dishes on so there is a variety of Chinese, Malaysian and Thai starters and mains, all cooked fresh and that's shown by the flavors and taste. Also its only just over £15 per person which i think its such a good price considering you can order however much you want. I have not been and has the normal al la carte menu yet, but i plan to within the next few weeks. This menu is extensive and serves some fantastic meals from what I've seen so i am very excited to go back and try them. Also if you go onto the eastern website and sign up for newsletters you get a 15% off voucher for the al la carte menu so its worth signing up. All together, this is a fantastic restaurant and i would highly recommend it to anyone who loves middle eastern foods.
8 of us celebrated my Brother's birthday and all had fantastic meals. I ordered the Sirloin steak with Tamarind sauce, black mushrooms and asparagus, I commented to my husband that the steak was tough, before I could call the waitress over she asked me if there was a problem and would I like it replacing? No quibble, and it was replaced very quickly, before everyone had finished their meals-that's excellent service! The waitress and waiter were very attentive, bringing our drinks to the table very quickly and spacing the food out at sensible intervals. The food was beautifully presented with Chinese radish decorations and orchids. The meals were on the large side, piping hot and very tasty with an excellent selection to cater for all palates. We have now eaten at the Eastern on several occasions and have always found the food and service to a very high standard. The only fault I can make is that the temperature needs sorting. If you sit by the windows you get a severe draught as you do if you sit under the air conditioning fan-they do turn this off if you request, but it then gets very hot, very quickly. This is a minor point and it will not stop us returning!
This restaurant has been my favorite for a long time, i ave been around 4 times now and every time has been perfect! We always go for the buffet times as i can never decide what to have if we go for the al a carte menu, but there are some amazing dishes on there so soon we will go and try them. The buffet menu has around 3 dishes on, starters and mains. I cannot fault any dishes ive had there and we have tried most on the menu now. Our reason for going was to take some relatives that are shortly moving abroad, they were extremely impressed and would love to go back when they return to England next year. The whole atmosphere is beautiful, the restaurant is modern decorated and has a raw natural feel with fountains up the stairs and uniquely designed features walls which are amazing, this creates such a warming special please to dine. I would recommend this place to anyone.
I went to the Eastern with a friend on Sunday last 10th January for lunch. We knew it was a buffet but were delighted to be served and it really was eat as much as you like. The selection of starters and mains was good and everything was beautifully cooked and presented. The only reason I don't give it a 6 is because the main courses were served on cold and I mean cold plates. the rice came in a very hot bowl, our plates were warm but the food came on cold plates that could have come from the fridge. This was a shame because the food was cold before we could eat it. The atmosphere was good and the staff helpful and pleasant, shame about the cold plates. Would certainly consider returning.
The Eastern offers a pleasurable experience, right from the easy and plentiful car parking. The entry is full of anticipation and mystery. What awaits inside is a modern (almost trendy) chic, light and airy restaurant and bar. The menu requires a lot of consideration as there are many dishes, starters, sharing platters, and mains to choose from. There is an extensive drinks menu to compliment the food. The food is exquisite, a wonderful and exciting mix of herbs and spices to tickle anybody's taste buds and satisfy any appetite. A restaurant to suit young, middle aged and elderly alike, as we discovered last Friday evening. Live music not intrusive, pleasant music to suit all. A place to go in a group and make an evening of it. 9.5/10
This was our first visit to the Eastern but will certainly be the first of many. The service was impeccable, the waiting staff were highly attentive but in no way intrusive and very friendly. The food was of a very high standard, we particularly enjoyed our small selection of starters including the salt & pepper tofu, scallops and yakatori. The mains were enjoyable (duck with raspberry & lamb nyanya) but would probably make an alternative choice next time. We look forward to visiting again and would certainly recommend to anyone.
Some of the best Asian Food we have tasted, beautifully presented with artistic garnishes. Saxophone player added a relaxing atmosphere. Went for an anniversary meal and had lovely evening though place was quiet for a Friday evening. Cost around £25 per head for food (depending what you choose) plus drinks which were reasonable price. We had Sea Bass in Teriyaki sauce and Duck in Rasperry sauce. Both cooked to perfection and looked amazing. Fully recommended for upmarket Asian food.
The food here is simply gorgeous we went for the Monday night buffet, which unlike other venues is not precooked. You order off the menu and it is cooked and bought to your table. There is no limit on how much you can eat, we were offered more starters and mains and after I queried what was in one dish on the menu they bought it over for me to try. Excellent service we will be returning and soon.
I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past so we booked a large table for my wife's birthday, and this latest visit was a bit of a disappointment. Not entirely disastrous but a bit of let down. The problem is the food itself mostly. It's quite pricey and the standard and portion size is a little on the poor side. For example, the Japanese Yakitori chicken kebabs. Think about that, what springs to mind? Delicious marinated chargrilled chicken thighs, slightly caramelised?! Oh, what did I get! Some rather bland bought in chicken kebabs with a really thick, rather bitter, teriyaki pouring sauce. We were quite a large party too so when the waiting staff brought the food out it was particularly chaotic. They didn't know what half the orders were, getting tofu dishes mixed up with pork and chicken, not great for our veggie and vegan friends! We still had a good evening but spoilt slightly by small things.
This is a nice restaurant but the service and food didn't quite match the price tag. Restaurant was busy so we had a short wait in the bar area which was more than fine other than we couldn't get a drink as there was no one to ask. We had a seafood platter to share as a starter costing a few pence shy of £20. The dishes were nice but didn't feel completely fresh - my guess is they'd either been sat around for a while or cooked from frozen. The main was lovely, full of flavour and fresh ingredients. We sent our first pudding back as it was still frozen. I don't expect a frozen pudding from a restaurant like this, it was disappointing. The service while polite was not very attentive. So all in all, a slightly disappointing experience. It wouldn't take much at all to make to it great, so that's a shame.
The owners of The Eastern should be held up as a glowing example of how to provide value for money in sophisticated, sedate surroundings without charging the earth for it. What a fantastic restaurant. Great food, great staff. The only minor issue was we were sat directly under a hot air vent so were a little too warm. It must be difficult to get the temperature of such a big open plan restaurant just right. I accidentally left too small a tip (honest!) but I'll put that right when I go back there!
We had an amazing evening. The food was incredible, served with great efficiency by very pleasant staff. Definitely an experience to repeat. We arrived a little early and were offered the choice of going straight to our table or having a drink in the pleasant bar area first. We chose to have a drink first. when we were ready we were shown to our table. No pressure to be seated exactly on time , which we appreciated.
We had a slightly longer wait this time - the restaurant is understandably busy at weekends . It remains a real treat to come here. I shared the less expensive banquet with a friend of mine and we both thoroughly enjoyed it . I do think the banquets here with 4 starters / 4 main courses are good value on the whole . Presentation and the freshness of the food was first rate as usual . I now just need to eat my way through the whole menu.....! Wonderful!
We went as a family to The Eastern on Saturday evening. It was our second visit. The welcome was warm and friendly, quiet when we arrived at 7pm but soon filled to a lively chatter, but not too loud. We all made some excellent choices in food, served with appetising presentation. A very modern restaurant, clean, light and airy. Air conditioned, and full of wonderful Asian temptations. Cannot wait for visit number 3...
Beautiful restaurant decor wise. Service felt rushed and no communication between the waitresses I.e two different waitresses came to take drinks order. Menu was a mixture of all things eastern, but basic dishes from different countries. We had a starter and a main, All the dishes looked stunning on the plate but lacked depth of flavour, that you were hoping and looking for. Once our starters were cleared, mains came straight out, so you were given no chance to rest between courses. Again 3 different waitresses came over to check if we were ok with our mains, once is more than sufficient. Over all the eastern had style and beauty on the outside but once you dig in it lacks substance and flavour , We booked at 20.30hrs and were out by 21.30hrs so a tad rushed.
We enjoyed our meal very much. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. Good choice of starters and lots of main dishes to select from. My only issue would be there was only one dessert and although it was terrific,my husband, who isn't able to eat cream etc was not really catered for. Perhaps adding one other dessert could solve the problem…but all in in all keen to come again and hope to bring friends for the DeLux menu very soon.
We were served quickly with beautifully presented food. Both of our meals were as described on the extensive menu. The room was nicely decorated, tables having linen cloths and napkins-so many are now doing cheap paper napkins, it was also air conditioned, nice on a warm evening. We have now been there about eight times and have not had a bad meal- we will be back!
We visited on a Monday night for the "all you can eat " option. We were able to order from an extensive list of dishes and as many times as we wanted. The food was freshly prepared, well presented, very hot and tasted good. The service was very good, all waiting staff were very attentive. Would definately go back, great value for money.
We love the buffet on Sundays and Mondays. The starters are fantastic and we usually order a second lot!! Great variety and freshly cooked. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The main courses are suitably sized which means you can try a couple of different flavours. We thoroughly recommend this fabulous restaurant. Super value on the buffet, in particular.
The restaurant was nice and bright and clean, the waiting staff were very nice, polite and cheerful and the food was very good, we had the 2 course early bird menu and the size of meals were just right, which did leave room for a pudding which we hadn't intended on having, we will definitely be back! Well done.
Fantastic food, excellent setting. Top marks all round. Got there early and was accommodated immediately. Service was swift, yet unobtrusive. Only negative was the loud party of four who seemed to forget that other folk were not that interested in their conversation. Having said that looking forward to trying the buffet menu one lunchtime.
Really good food and fantastic presentation. Service was good and consistent. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you receive, however, the quality of chicken was not fantastic. It was clearly formed since there was very little grain to the meat which made it almost feel uncooked. Apart from that small negative, we have been twice and it has been really good.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. The restaurant looks somewhat uninviting from the exterior but walk through the doors and up the stairs and it is a very different experience. Great menu with plenty of options - reasonably priced considering the quality of food - we'd go back in a heartbeat.
Enjoyed the food and the service was very good. The waiter was very helpful when asking for advice on food. Not too long to wait for courses. I have been twice now. Went with family this time, who had not been before. It was a Monday evening so good value aswell.
Good atmosphere , very busy which is a good sign, had to wait a bit for the meal but not an issue as the meal we had was worth the wait. Would recommend the restaurant - has a nice selection of different far eastern foods to select from .
We went for my sons birthday, as he's been a few times before and really likes the atmosphere. Was slightly disappointed this time due to a table of approx 8 that were so noisey, or spoilt the evening, probably for everyone seated around them. We couldn't cold a conversation between the 6 of us, unless we shouted too.
Food excellent quality. Service very good. Restaurant was very busy so as a consequence quite noisy, therefore, sometimes hard to hear what fellow diners were saying. Decor very modern and clean however toilets although clean seem to be a bit dated. Looked as though they were part way through a renovation. Over all experience very good. Would recommend.
Superb, great setting , service and food at the right kind of portion size. the only negative, no Sax player (get her back) and a little slow on the drink refills for us Alchies !! Def be back need to go through the menu Mike + Jen
Stylish setting with some privacy due to thoughtfully positioned screens , lightening quick service and delicious food all round . There was quite a range of vegetarian options which is a welcome change from some restaurants . A thoroughly enjoyable meal . I WILL be returning !
The Eastern Restaurant provides good food and great service. The Butterfly Prawns and Hoisin Pork are particularly delicious. The staff at the Eastern are both efficient and welcoming.
Good Service, Good choice of Asian Style dishes, freshly prepared. We had a sharing platter to start and our party of 5 all enjoyed their main courses from the a- la-carte selection - paid about £25 each with some drinks - live music from saxophonist - overall a very nice experience and excellent meal reasonably priced
Polite and helpful service. Lovely restaurant, in nice settings. Served by various different waiting staff and all were as helpful as the next. Food was spot on and if you ask, they will explain the dishes. Can't recommend this place enough.
A very pleasant evening. It was nice to have a selection of tables. The service was very sharp, the food came very quickly after ordering and anything extra that we asked for arrived promptly. I will go back there.
We were offered a warm greeting which was followed by prompt service. The food was attractively presented. Each dish was extremely tasty. I thoroughly recommend the restaurant as it has a wide choice and you will be welcomed.
Yet again a superb dining experience at The Eastern. The food was superb as was the service and the fact it was as much as you can eat all cooked fresh for only £15 was a bargain.
The Eastern Special Set Menu was an excellent choice for our first visit to The Eastern. The food was very good as was the service and the setting. A very enjoyable evening out and we will return.
Terrific, a real discovery, great food made with fresh ingredients and care, excellent staff and live music via a saxophonist, oh, and very reasonably priced, I'd give it 10/10 if I could, we enjoyed it that much
Fantastic food, great welcome and the prices were very reasonable for the area, the bill just over £100 for 4 people with drinks. The restaurant looked very classy inside, ladies toilets look like work in progress.
Unfortunately we could not find the restaurant, we will try again during the day time. But the add looked very tempting and I feel bad we didn't get a chance to try those delicious dishes.
Great meal great staff. Relaxed atmosphere with brilliant comfy seats. For what we eat the bill was reasonable aswel. Would highly reccomend. Want be long till we go back as this was our first visit.
Amazing! First time in a Thai and Malaysian restaurant and they exceeded expectations. Stunning place and staff were unbelievably attentive. The food was delicious....and that doesn't do it justice. Thank you, we will be back.
Food was great quality and quantity service was great and atmosphere very relaxing Downside toilets very poor when entering the gents the ladies toilet door is visible with glass and should not be the case
Food beautifully presented, well cooked and tasty. Staff very polite and helpful, extensive menu even good choice for vegetarians. Only small complaint was that the food was not very hot and was served on cold plates. We will definitely be returning!
Once again excellent atmosphere, service and food. Would definitely recommend. A good introduction is to have a set meal as it introduces you to a great range of dishes which are beautifully presented.
Excellent attentive service and lovely, tasty food. Family meal very good value for money, it was £14.95 for a good variety of set starters and mains. We will definitely make a return visit.
Food was fantastic and served quickly, exceptionally well presented. Only complaint was that it was cool in there and sitting by the window you could feel the draft. We will return but request to sit away from the Windows.
