The Loch Lomond area undoubtedly has one of the United Kingdom’s most beautiful landscapes, and at The Kilted Skirlie Balloch you can enjoy views of the famous Loch and Ben Lomond which towers over it. Located within Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch, close to Loch Lomond Aquarium, The Kilted Skirlie is equally as popular for a family meal after a day spent on the loch or exploring its surrounds, as it is for a romantic meal in the evening. The menu features modern takes on traditional Scottish dishes, as well as British favourites, with plenty of choices for everyone, as well as a comprehensive kids menu too.

We recommend starting off with some haggis and black pudding fritters served with a whisky and black pepper mayonnaise or the Scottish smoked salmon with celeriac and apple remoulade and capers. Then, move on to a homemade burger, some classic fish and chips, the Skirlie steak pie, or try Scotland’s national dish: haggis, neeps and tatties. Found on Ben Lomond way, The Kilted Skirlie Balloch combines stunning views with equally as stunning Scottish and British cuisine, popular with Balloch locals and tourists alike. The waiter staff would great and very attentive. We ordered a bottle of prosecco, but they didn't have a normal sized bottle so offered 4 mini ones for the same price. The food was fine. After being in the restaurant for nearly an hour (We arrived 20 mins early for our reservation) I received a phone call and voicemail from the manager of the restaurant wanted to know when we would be arriving for our table reservation. When I notified a member of staff about this, he apologised a lot for the mix up. At no stage did the manager, who made the call come and apologise and in actual fact pushed passed me when I got up from our table to go to the toilet. Overall experience was fine, not impressed at all with the manager, and I doubt I will be rushing back.

The food was great however we booked the restaurant weeks in advance and were seated in the lounge area instead of the restaurant. No-one else was eating food in here only people having drinks. We were also surrounded by people using it as a thoroughfare to the outside balcony to view the acts below. The people were queuing for drinks at the bar around our table to enable them to access the balcony. This made it an unpleasant experience for eating our dinner. We have eaten in the restaurant on numerous occassions before and have never been seated in the bar area, this has put me off returning!

After passing by this restaurant over the years during our annual visit to loch lomond I was determined to eat there this year and we were not disappointed. Cocktails on the balcony watching the sunset over the loch then inside for great value locally sourced food. Really hope more people visit and get to experience what this great place has to offer
