The Sambal Sydney CBD is the only place to go if you’re looking to experience authentic Indonesian and Asian cuisine without hopping on an airplane. Named after a flavourful, spicy sauce made from chillies and other ingredients such as fish paste or garlic, the dishes here pack a punch, that’s for sure! Situated on Kent Street, this central Sydney eatery serves up dishes such as grilled beef short ribs with Bali-style sambal sauce; nasi goreng with prawns and a fried egg and soto babat – a beef and tripe soup. As you can see, The Sambal is more than worth a visit, just ensure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Introduced Sambal to a colleague from the Netherlands. We all enjoyed our choices very much ( the rendang, the sate, the kikil, the dendeng balado and the sirop buah). Service is great, friendly and informative. Totally recommend this place when you are in the CBD. Do try the condiments that are available to purchase over the counter.
