Vietnamese food always comes high up on a list of favourites for the foodies of Melbourne, with countless noodle shops, seafood specialists and pho-nominal restaurants spread all over the Victoria capital. For those out in Footscray, Thein An is the destination of choice for Saigon specialities. They’ve been in business since 1995 – no small feat in the cutthroat world of the Melbourne restaurant scene – and they’ve built their reputation on the authenticity of their food, the friendly nature of their staff and their superb location. Take a trip out to Irving Street, just 30m from Footscray Station, for a meal that can take you from the streets of Melbourne to the bustling waterways of the Mekong delta – just remember to book your table in advance, as they can get crowded.
great food, especially the dish I had which was salted fish and chicken fried rice. skillfully cooked with proper wok breath and specially good with chilli oil
Have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. Always delicious and clean with fast, friendly service. Highly recommend for a quick meal or a group catch up.
Booking online was easy. Service was great and prompt as soon as everyone arrived. Food was excellent and staff friendly. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone
Friendly service, good food. Big, loud Vietnamese restaurant, lots of fun. Salt and pepper calamari a must, as is the salt and pepper pork. We'll be back.
Much better experience - not much wait time. Definitely recommend to pre order some meals so they are prepared and ready for you when you get there
Food was lovely and service was quick. Vietnamese coleslaw with chicken is always a standout! Great to also be able to enjoy the meal with a glass of red hill Pinot Grigio.
Friendly staff, fast and great tasting food...what more can you ask for from your local? Will definitely be coming back again and again. Thanks so much
Bad service - waited 1 hour for food. Meals brought out at different times - 1 meal forgotten - wonton soup??? Food is great though
