Yakiniku sets, sizzling wagyu tadaki beef, delicious donburi, reliable ramen, slithery fresh seafood, rice cake and bacon – if any or all of the above are tingling the taste buds, then Tokyo Table in Hawthorn is a darn good place to settle the cravings. It’s getting harder and harder to filter through Melbourne’s sea of modern Japanese eateries, so when you come across one that does a little bit of everything very well, and a few things extremely well, at reasonable prices and with great service and a cool atmosphere, it’s worth holding onto. Found smack bang at the intersection of Glenferrie Road and Burwood Road, Tokyo Table is easy to get to from all over Melbourne and a more-than-solid go-to for Hawthorn residents. Tokyo Table’s small size is part of its charm, but it does mean the place can fill up quickly so bear in mind it’s often wise to book before you hope to go!
There is not enough praise in the world for this underrated place. Food is delicious with so much flavour. But the thing that makes this place different from all the rest is the service. I was eating my curry and got to the end where I was left with only rice and a bit of curry and the ladies must have noticed and brought a little bowl of extra curry over for me to finish my rice... these guys take notice of their customers and go above and beyond. Amazing!
I was so impressed with Tokyo Table. Friendly service and really great japanese. I got the Karaage chicken Bento Box which was so worth $13 and included generous helpings of beautiful karaage chicken and steaming hot miso soup! My friends also thoroughly enjoyed it 😍
The food very very yummy and the service was excellent. The waitress mistundersood my order but the manager kindly swapped the meal for us immediately. Very kind of her.
