White Mojo Balwyn is pretty hard to match when it comes to speciality coffee roasters and fantastic cafe fare in Melbourne. As a self-proclaimed bastion of hope for all those looking for something better and beyond the standard smashed avo on toast, the food here – whether for breakfast, brunch or dinner – is unique, delicious and even thought-provoking thanks to unusual flavour combinations and theatrical presentations. Add to all that exceptional, house blend coffee and it’s clear you’re onto a winner. Find White Mojo cafe on Whitehorse Road where it’s best to head armed with a reservation.
So, let’s begin where all the best cafe experiences begin – with coffee. At the very heart of White Mojo in Balwyn is the importance of good coffee, in true Melbourne style of course. This stylish space roasts its own beans and the house blend is a unique combination of fully natural and well-hulled beans from Sumatra. Delightful, don’t you think? Order this in any way your caffeine-loving heart desires, be it cold drip, Aeropress or normal and you’ll be sorted for the rest of the day. If coffee isn’t quite what you’re after (why though), White Mojo also offers cold-pressed juices, a range of teas and coffee alternatives like turmeric, matcha and black lattes.
Now as for the White Mojo Balwyn menu, make sure you arrive hungry. From the all-day breakfast menu you can expect eggs Benny with smoked ham or cured salmon, kale chip and yuzu hollandaise and the big brekkie loaded up with smoked belly bacon, chorizo, green mash, eggs and mushrooms. Meanwhile, the all-day brunch offering looks like the signature White Mojo croissant burger filled with soft shell crab, chipotle mayo, smoked eel and chorizo crumb and the truffle duck egg served with black truffles, fried duck egg, prosciutto and feta on a sesame bagel. A Melbourne favourite for good reason, head to White Mojo on Whitehorse Road in Balwyn asap.
Very pleasant staff, quick service (roughly 5 minutes despite being busy) and delicious food. Would recommend booking in advance as it can get fairly crowded. There are good flavours that come through in each dish, while also being aesthetic and nicely texture. Just a tip, please be understanding that some items due to their popularity will be sold out by mid-late afternoon i.e the croissant burger, so always have a back up in mind. Ate in a group of three and we each really enjoyed our meals; pork benny, crushed green and smashed pumpkin. The drinks included the iced coffee, iced matcha latte and summer lovin' juice, which again we all enjoyed. The iced coffee is not overly sweetened like in some cafes, so if you regularly drink it with ice cream or condensed milk I would not advise you to order this one (though it was very refreshing).
Great service and good food. Always! Great service and good food. Always! Great service and good food. Always! Great service and good food. Always! Great service and good food. Always!
