The day starts early at Bazara, but so it goes in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra, where you’ll find Marine Parade busy with early-morning swimmers, joggers, and locals looking for a bite to eat. Powerhouse appetites opt for Bazara’s big breakfast – eggs, bacon, sausages, spinach, hash browns, baked beans and mushrooms on Italian schiacciata bread – while Aussie purists grab a bacon and egg roll on the go. More Italian fare comes in the form of the bosciato crepe with ham, mushrooms, and cheese, but none of this would be complete without a proper espresso, macchiato or piccolo latte as an accompaniment.

Bazara continues its reliably good offering throughout the day, moving into a lunchtime menu of deluxe burgers, steaks and steak sandwiches, salads, Italian pasta and a fantastic fishermans’ plate piled high with fillets of fish, calamari, crab and prawns – perfect after a dip at Maroubra Beach. Dinner brings Bazara’s Italian emphasis to the fore, while not neglecting a good dozen Sydney rock oysters au naturel or with Kilpatrick or Mornay sauces. The evening’s selection of dishes is impressive, with pasta, risotto, Italianate meat, poultry and fish dishes running right through to dessert – creme brulee, pancotte, tiramisu and more.
