The food and atmosphere were amazing. I personally think the food were a little pricey but a lovely place for a catch up.

skewers were a bit small but scallops were great. It was the last night and service was great

They made a mistake putting our order in and did not confirm. After 40 minutes of waiting, the man who served us drinks asked us if we were going to order any more and was really rude about his mistake. Terrible service

Possibly the worst service I have experienced dreadful customer service food good a shame the staff has no customer service skills.

Amazing food and service. Our waiter guided us perfectly and we enjoyed one of the best Chinese food experiences of all time.

Stunning inside the restaurant and very prompt service, we all had a wonderful time, only one dish we had trouble finishing because the "mild" was still pretty spicy!

It was very average. Average service. Below overage drinks. Food was quite okay, nothing too special. We ordered one hotpot, a rice and some skewers. And 4 mocktails. The bill was roughly 260$. You can get mich better experiences for half the price in Melbourne CBD now. I'd recommend the business to get better front staff. An actual bartender who can make some modern contemporary drinks. Lower your prices and use the amazing locality to run some attractive promotions. Good luck!

Whilst there was a bit of a wait despite having a booking, they gave us a free drink each for compensation and the food was amazing. When I come back to Melbourne, I’ll definitely be going here again.

Food was good, but overpriced, and services was bad, or there was little services, had to wait for a long time for them to take orders, feels like getting ignored, took forever for them to bring your orders to the table. Will not go back again.

We were seated 20 minutes after arrival, despite having a reservation. We ordered, it took an hour for our drinks to arrive. Our food trickled out randomly over time. After we'd finished eating the fish (by this time it was 9:30pm), we asked a waiter where our pekking duck was, and he stated that the kitchen "lost" our order and it would take an additional 30 minutes for them to prepare it now. We told them to not bother. Most of our group left the restaurant still hungry. Also, the cost far outweighed the food quality and service provided. Overall, the worst dining experience I've had in Melbourne.

Overall it was such an easy and fun night. Chef David is really a place to be when you’re feeling like good food and a fun night out but not too crazy. The food was delicious and I feel like it has gotten better since the last time i visited which was about 3 years ago. The music is the right level of loud , enough the keep the vibe but also good enough to hear the people I’m with. Loved it

The vibe was good. Funky. Fun. I thought the food was underwhelming. I had wagyu pepper beef. It was quite bland and under seasoned. the meat, I was expecting it to melt in my mouth, alas it did not. Skewers were good.

Food is abysmal, too oily, at times undercooked, minimal flavour. Over priced.

Great atmosphere, grill fish is ok but duck and stirfry dishes are less tasty compare to anthentic chinese food. One dish is cold when got served to us, they didn’t change for us, just put back and stir fry one more time. It’s completely overcooked.

This is the second time we've been to Chef David and we've gone back because the food is insane amazing. Loved the atmosphere. Incredible food.

Not bad at all. We we're sat at our table and served in reasonable time. The atmosphere was great. Great conversation with each other, as it wasn't noisy. The music was muted and great. The decor was very cool. The sichuan pepper was perfect for my husband as it was his birthday. I would recommend a less spicy level personally. The food was delicious. We had skewers of lamb, chicken, beef and prawns. Grilled barramundi, truffle fried rice and jugs of plum juice for a party of 5.
