loved the food the music was a bit loud at times though

Not bad at all. We we're sat at our table and served in reasonable time. The atmosphere was great. Great conversation with each other, as it wasn't noisy. The music was muted and great. The decor was very cool. The sichuan pepper was perfect for my husband as it was his birthday. I would recommend a less spicy level personally. The food was delicious. We had skewers of lamb, chicken, beef and prawns. Grilled barramundi, truffle fried rice and jugs of plum juice for a party of 5.

I have an amazing experience thanks to the staff. Will be back soon

The venue is cool, but the food was HORRIBLE. Everything was cold, and had no flavour we ate it thinking they were busy, it happens. But when more food came, We sent it back as it was old and still cold. They returned it half warmed up, half cold- rather than a fresh fish-and again, tasted terrible. I’ve had better Chinese style food from dodgy hole in the wall takeaways for half the price that actually didn’t taste like wet batter oil. DO NOT recommend.

Food has no flavour it’s all just chilli powder would not recommend and very overpriced for below average food

Great food with awesome food but unfortunately the service was very poor. The venue wasn’t busy at all, I booked a private booth with a min spend amount so I thought we’d get some priority but I was wrong. We had long wait times, had to press the call button multiple times and the waiter was slow. Overall experience was 6/10.

I was quite disappointed with my experience at Chef David. The staff were disinterested and inexperienced. The cocktails were basic and lacked flavour, but were extremely expensive. An aperol spritz was $25! The food menu was confusing and had to be selected on a single iPad between two people, however you have to ring a staff member to place the order. Strange. The staff didn’t seem to know much about the food or have any suggestions. The food was mostly okay, however the Peking duck was a real shame. Service was so slow. Ordered 3 things and waited 45 minutes on a portion of rice for it to come out freezing cold. Ordered 2 more drinks and they never appeared either. Shambles

A very disappointing visit. No idea why the rating’s so high. Food was below average & we waited over an hour for a bowl of rice & one dish to come out. Extremely miniature portion sizes. Staff were also coughing frequently into their hands & then serving customers.

Worst service in Melbourne. Food is fine but service is so bad won’t come back again. Funky looking place, a real shame there is zero hospitality.

The food was amazing, however we booked a private room as there were 9 of us with a pram, but this was not provided upon our arrival (in an almost empty restaurant). There seemed to be someone else in the room already, and we were crammed into a small space. Orders we placed were not put through (Peking duck) and the staff were generally inattentive and aloof (again in an almost empty restaurant). Will come back as the food was really lovely, but will be sure to adjust my customer service/experience expectations.

brought my parents here and they loved it! the grilled garlic scallops were really good! also enjoyed the truffle fried rice! as always the grilled fish is chef's kiss!

The service was only ok, the food left a lot to be desired, and they messed up the order and served beef instead of fish to a pescatarian. All the ‘grilled’ items tasted heavily of butane as well. Didn’t enjoy it

The food were over price and plain, our pork belly stew was not great and lack of flavour. The ratings on the website is not accurate and we won't be back...better value somewhere else.
