As an area not known for a great number of quality restaurants, the last few years have seen a number of top quality restaurants spring up, offering high-quality Australian cuisine to both locals and visitors alike. On Clovelly Road, in – unsurprisingly – Clovelly, Deviate Restaurant has crafted a menu the envy of any Downtown joint, and it’s certainly making plenty of waves with the locals down on the Eastern Beaches.

In Clovelly, in the heart of the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, is home to some of the most exclusive real estate in Australia. As befitting such a desireable place to live, there are amenities of superb quality, and none more suited than Deviate Restaurant. Situated on Clovelly Road, their slogan is “The Place Where Locals Meet”, and they seek to offer a menu of Australian cuisine that features something for everyone in the area, whether they are ordering for themselves or sharing with a group.

On arrival at Deviate on Clovelly Road, we recommend beginning with a few nibbles to split between your party over a few drinks. Olives are always popular down in Clovelly, as are the parmesan truffle fries. For starters, you can do far worse than a few sliders, or even arancini. Mains feature a suitably varied Australian selection: steaks are there, of course, as is fresh fish in the form of sumac-crusted salmon, and for vegetarians, a dish of potato gnocchi with sage butter and porcini mushrooms. In fact, the selection is so varied that we can’t choose what to recommend because we would eat it all – what we will say though, is book ahead. Oh, and if you can’t decide yourself, then go for the Chef’s Selection 6 or 8 course menu, and let the professional choose for you.
