Love this place! Delicious food, great atmosphere and terrific service. We had an early Sunday night dinner with our three year old and the staff were very accommodating. We enjoyed every single dish we ordered - will definitely be back.
Very enjoyable. We all left full and happy!! Plenty of vegetarian choices and the staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be going back!
Great food. Great vibe. Great cocktails. Not like any other Vietnamese restaurant I've tried. Traditional Viet food, fused with a modern Australian twist. Must try.
Exceptionally delicious as always. Would also recommend asking for the vegetarian menu in addition to the regular one because there were a few things on there that I hadn't tasted before!
Loved it. Best Banh Xeo I've had outside of Saigon. Great desserts. Creative, delicious food, yum!! Not too noisy on the Thursday night we were there, unlike so many restaurants in Sydney!
The food was delicious and the service was great. It had such a nice atmosphere and they didn't even seem to mind how long our table took. We really enjoyed the DIY rice paper rolls and even ordered double of the Hello Uncle and make sure try the pikelets! They are a must. I was a bit disappointed in the fact I was so full that I couldn't fit in dessert! I've had the Viet coffee cocktail and the matching dessert on a previous visit and it was phenomenal! I ordered it to share but ended up eating it all myself!
I have been several times to Hello Auntie in the past year. The food us always good, and the Wednesday night byo is great for us. We will return again!
Excellent food. Separate vegetarian menu which is great. Our table was not quite ready when we arrived but staff sat us elsewhere so we could look at the menu until our table was clear which was fine for us. Restaurant was very full and busy but our meals came promptly. Staff were happy to explain different menu items and how to eat them. Will be coming back in a few weeks with a large group and am looking forward to it.
In Marrickville we are spoiled for great Vietnamese restaurants so when a new supposedly extra special place called Hello Auntie opened up we thought we'd give it a go. To begin we tried to book on the weekend but were told we'd need to book at least a week in advance. Fair enough we thought it's a new place and seems to have created some what of a buzz in the neighbourhood. We ended up booking mid week, no dramas. It was a 6.30pm sitting and we were seated at a table less than a foot from a couple who were obviously on a first date. We could hear every word they said, I actually felt like joining in the chat as it felt like we were at the same table and they seemed like a cute couple. Our first dish came out and it was crispy skinned chicken. It was moist and the skin was deliciously crispy. The second dish came out about 30mins after we finished the first and was the duck pancake. Over all a pretty good version of what most of the other Vietnamese restaurants do, perhaps a hint doughy but over all ok. Last of all and after waiting another 30mins came the twice cooked pork belly. We we really excited about this one as a few reviews we'd had read really talked it up. My fist bite of a 1cm cube piece of pork nearly broke a tooth. The only crackling from this dish would be coming from my teeth shattering. To the wait staffs credit they offered us a free desert to compensate for the pork but by the time the offer came we just wanted to go home. Over all the service was excellent but the food was over priced, the cold bare brick, concrete floors and hard chairs , while good for Hipsters not ideal for the over 30's crowd.
Fabulous food in the heard to the busy Marrickville strip. A good wine selection as well. The lighting wasn't great for reading a menu that is faintly printed. That's the only criticism of what is a terrific place. I hope to be back soon.
Had the noodle dishes here, n it was so good we'll come back to try the others! Pretty fancy for a viet resto, loving the change.
Great food and atmosphere, parking easy round the back. Good service but some tables a bit close together. Would highly recommend this Vietnamese Restaurant for dinner.
Amazing food and staff. Second time there now and doesn't disappoint! Not cheap but in today's cost of living it's worth it! Would go back again and again!
The food was great as usual but the service was a bit slower than last time. The savoury pancakes are to die for but you really need a finger bowl or wet napkin to wipe your hands afterwards. Nonetheless, I'll definitely be going back!
Helpful, friendly attentive staff, tasty delicious food, great atmosphere. Table for two was a bit small but manageable by staff helping to take away things no longer required.
Dishes were a bit pricey for Marrickville. The double cooked pork was terrible, dry and hard even with sauce. A little noisy for my taste.
Super tasty food, great cocktails and smart wine list. Would have ordered more but the kitchen closes pretty early (9pm weekdays) so left a little hungry. Can't wait to get back there earlier to satisfy my taste buds.
A 'second generation' Vietnamese restaurant. This 'new' generation uses mainly traditional Vietnamese ingredients (mixed in with a few luxury Western ingredients like foie gras and truffles) and cooking them using modern techniques, with the presentation of the food also giving it an opportunity to be Instagrammed. Fantastic.
We had another great time last night. The food is always delicious and the staff are extremely attentive. When we arrived we were sat at a high table with bar stools, which wasn't going to be comfortable for us. The wait staff were really accommodating and found us a regular table when we asked for one, but if a you prefer a regular table it would be worth adding it in your booking comments. Other than that, I can't fault our experience and will be back again soon.
Love this restaurant, they are great to cater for gluten free as i am coeliac and the service is also really good with staff knowing the menu very well
It was a very nice eating experience. The food was great and the service fantastic. My son has an egg allergy and the staff were very obliging in making sure that they advised us on what dishes had egg. We definitely will be going back for more. There are still a lot of dishes that we need to sample.
We had a great night at Hello Auntie. The food was interesting and very tasty, the service was attentive and prices were a little higher than other marrickville restaurants, but well worth it for a special night out.
Overall a great time at Hello Auntie, delicious food and they really took the time to help us with our order and made sure that we were happy.
I took my 2 Vietnamese friends they were very impressed and loved the food .quick and friendly service been 4 times already will go again
Normally go for big and proper meal but just wanted to have a quick and simple dinner. Had the pho and rice between the two of us. Was great for a chilly Sunday night.
We love this place, the food is amazing. The only issue is that both times we've gone the staff have forgotten our drinks. Food comes out and still no drinks. We have had to ask and then the drinks come out. Aside from that it's great
Good took a long time to come out and when it did it was not hot enough. We found out later why this happened and desserts were offered in consolation.
The food was delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. The restaurant was busy but not too loud, and the service was great. Definitely a place I would return to.
Our first visit to Hello Auntie was on a Thursday night and it was great. Service excellent and food excellent. Our second visit we went on a Wednesday night, which is the only BYO night. We couldn't get a booking till 8.30pm, which is fine for us. But we ordered with the intention of ordering more if needed (which we discussed with the waitress). They placed the food on our table and instantly we decided to order more, but was told the kitchen was closed. We were then rushed through the whole experience. We all thought our food wasn't as good as the first experience. Maybe it was the rushing that made us think that, but overall the second visit was average.
Food was fabulous; service very attentive, friendly and speedy; but sadly, the music far too loud - 3 of us dining together and we asked 3 different waiter staff on 3 occasions to please turn down the sound volume, which they did, but within 15 mins or so the volume was blasting again. Most people I know go to dinner with friends to enjoy conversation with them, not to compete with loud music. When will restauranteurs realise that the ambient noise of modern (hard surface) restaurants, plus conversation noise of diners does not need to be added to with loud music.... Please let us converse without having to massively raise voices, or miss hearing what others say, please!
Great service and modern vietnamese cuisine. I loved the whatchamacallit mocktail and the banh khot. I would highly recommend making a booking to dine as it was quite busy.
Hello Auntie is a fabulous restaurant, to eat in and to look at. The menu is not your usual Vietnamese menu, rather Vietnamese with a twist. The food is fresh and so delicious, especially anything with duck!! The Staff are wonderful, very attentive and so polite. They were mindful of our dishes taking a little too long so they gave us a starter on the house, which I thought was an example of excellent customer service. The service is usually fast, but as I saw this time round, they really know how to keep their customers happy. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. I love it!!!
We'll definitely be back for the friendly service, awesome flavours and all the other dishes that we didn't get to try! The banh xeo is impressive! :D~
Great food and atmosphere. Portion sizes could be a but bigger but still delicious. Favourite dish was the school prawns but everything looked very tasty
fantastic food and friendly service one more. I love it that there are deserts unusual for restaurants like this and that they are so unusual
The food was absolutely delicious, service was impeccable. Only downside was we had to vacate by 7.45pm which we weren't informed of until 20min prior.
Excellent food - excellent service - what more needs to be said? Hostess [Chef's partner] was very informative about the food - we will be back soon
Awesome food. Great service! We can't go past the Crispy Skin Chicken and the Coconut and Tumeric Pikelets are out of this world. A taste sensation!
We had a lovely evening and as always, the food was superb! We love introducing friends to Hello Auntie, so they can also enjoy the experience.
Food and service were very good but unfortunately we had to wait for 20 minutes to be taken to our seats. We had a booking for 8.30pm and are told if we are late for more than 15 minutes than the booking is void..I think that is fair but that should work in both ways...to have to wait for maybe 10minutes, well that's okay but to have to wait for 20minutes, that is just not right.. We were offered a free desert for the inconvenience, that was nice. Thanks for your interest.
