Mango Tree Cafe & Restaurant is known all over New South Wales as the place to go for if you’re in search of a great curry in Illawarra region, and whether you visit their location up in North Wollongong or their outpost in the south at Ulladulla, you’re in for a treat. Their take on Indian cuisine includes all the traditional favourites – tandoori specialities to start, classic curries to follow – but also a huge range of house signatures and regional delicacies from up and down India, Pakistan, Nepal and more. There are huge thali platters to share, whether veggie or meat, and steamed fish in banana leaves, as well as lamb cutlets, seekh kebabs and paneer tikka. Curry connoisseurs will appreciate the lamb shank korma, a mild curry cooked with roasted cashew nuts, or at the other end of the scale, beef vindaloo with red wine and plenty of chillies. Book a spot for you and your mates and head on over for a proper Indian feed in Ulladulla.
I booked through quando of or 8:30. When we arrived at 8:20 they were closing due to lack of customers. I explained that I had booked, they had no record. However, they were willing to stay open, were exceedingly friendly and courteous and dos not make us feel rushed at all despite being the only customers.
Authentic and real: I would Rate 6/6 not just because I am based for Indian food but Mango tree has flavors which are really close to indian cuisine. Great Goan and costal indian cuisine. However they need to improve on service. Rice was served first and roti was served at the end of meal. Lastly, it has got the best view.
