Hardly a secret service among those ticking the boxes in Newcastle’s sweet shore leave retreat from the CBD of Honeysuckle, MoneyPenny is one of Newcastle’s most sought-after drinking dens and shareable restaurants. Found Along The Boardwalk at the eastern end of Honeysuckle Drive, this bar and casual eatery boasts a direct line of sight out over the harbour, inviting guests to enjoy a sea breeze alongside the namesake cocktail, perhaps (the fruity, back-to-basics cocktail list changes weekly – the signature is a seductive salted caramel pina colada). There’s plenty of wine and crafty beer on offer, too, but we’re really enamoured with the share platter-oriented menu loaded with dumplings, tacos, pizza, medium-sized dishes like chimichangas, lamb salads, paella, vegetarian Indian korma – all capable of splitting between heads – and much more besides.
