Samari is a rarity – a Cambodian restaurant with authentic written all over it, along with other descriptors like tantalising, exotic and hard to find in Perth. True, right? There’s plenty of other Southeast Asian cuisines on the city’s culinary map, but not so many that specialise in Cambodian cuisine. Samari Cambodian Restaurant, as the name suggests, is one such place, housed in brand new premises along Oxford Street in Mount Hawthorn after a move and a renovation. The menu has fared well under its new roof, too, with chef’s specials like the banh chow pancakes, Khmer amok, roasted duck and lychees in red curry, and the traditional Cambodian style steamboat – known as yaharn – coming to table with our particular recommendations. Book ahead as this cosy restaurant can get busy at peak times!
