In the heart of Geelong CBD you’ll find The Backyard, a modern all-day eatery that has a passion for community and healthy eating. Bringing these two aspects together in wholesome fashion, the owners of this Ryrie Street café have created a friendly space for Geelong locals to gather. Their seasonal menus showcase Australian café culture at its best, with fresh local produce from throughout Geelong and the Surf Coast driving the quality of each dish. There’s everything from hearty burgers and all-day brunch to fresh oysters and vegan health bowls. The homemade cakes are not to be missed either, great alongside coffee from Code Black, a roaster based in Melbourne. So whether you’re after a full meal, or just a quick bite, The Backyard’s contemporary and casual atmosphere is more than ideal.
Food took forever and then meals needed to be sent back numerous times as food was missing. Eg sausage on one meal egg on another. When told feta was missing it wasn’t replaced. Coffee cold and extra shot was not noticed. Ordered 3 chais which reached the table approximately 40 minutes after they were ordered. Take away patrons served before our group even though we had ordered before takeaway patrons Terrible. Never go again.
A very casual meal, more of a cafe than a dinner venue. but lovely nonetheless.
Food was terrible, although the waiter was very attentive and apologetic. Fish was unedible, ribs were just warm and the vegan burger was just okay.
