For over 10 years The Old Siam has been bringing a taste of Thailand to the people of Wollongong’s Thirroul, becoming known for their authentic Thai cuisine and stylish setting with exposed brick walls and traditional decor. The menu takes in all of the time-tested dishes you’d expect, as well as a few surprises. Seafood lovers should try the choo chee salmon, a grilled salmon fillet topped with lime leaves and a mild curry sauce, while vegetarians will love the sweet potato curry with tofu, vegetables and a thick yellow curry sauce with chilli and basil. Located on Lawrence Hargrave Drive, The Old Siam has become a long-standing favourite among Thai loving foodies. Best book ahead to snag your seat!
Visited on an extremely busy Saturday night .. the staff handled everything very well under what must have been difficult circumstances. We were only 2, and most tables were much larger, so the noise was offputting for us - but this is no complaint about the restaurant - it just showed that people were having a good time. Maybe a very busy Saturday night not the best time for a "first date" ???
The service was great and the staff very friendly, the food was delicious and hot when it arrived at our table. The restaurant was quite spacious not crammed.
Great tasting food; good value for money; national costume worn by the staff; pleasant decor for the restaurant which is not large so not noisy.
