2 Stews and a Cockatoo stands in the great tradition of Aussie integration. Well, not in the old stockman way, where they’d rustle up a couple of cauldrons and throw in the tropical parrot as an extra feathery frisson, but more in the multicultural way, with a menu that reflects the countless cultures that make modern Australia. Their small plates include Asian influences like tempura prawns, tuna sashimi, five-spice duck breast, and European specialities – lamb tiramisu and taleggio arancini – as well as fusion dishes such as pulled pork with roti, and scallops with chorizo. Get to Gordon (by train from central Sydney or on the Pacific Highway) and tuck into an epic Australian feed. With a covered (and heated in winter) indoor/outdoor seating area, 2 Stews and a Cockatoo have a prime spot for you whatever the weather!
This place had a wonderful vibe, the food and wine list was insanely good! Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our food for the second course, then our churros came out burnt and when we received the bill there were two mistakes on it that was rectified. The staff were lovely, overall we really liked it and will go back... just maybe not on a Friday night.
Good but poor value. Wording on menu is creative. Service - trying the best, but small simple portion sizes for the rates charged are expensive. Still hungry after $60 pp paid on food only.
Lovely menu, attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Wine list is pretty special too. Overall, a great experience. The only place to go in Gordon!
