This place gets better ever with every visit, so sad it's closing this month!
As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a warm welcome smile from Cam, makes you feel so at home. Had the crush me menu for $65pp (such great value and it was a good amount with an additional order of dessert. The baloney sandwich- mortadella on a pillowy soft roll. So simple, so delicious. Loved the roasted beetroot, macadamia, coffee- such interesting flavours. Didn't expect the fried green tomato, burnt eggplant, taleggio to be so amazing- like a healthy parmigiana-the flavours and firm texture of the tomato and crumb worked so well. First up, the fettuccine, cannellini, tomato, konbu- tasted like a fancy baked beans...the two stand out pasta dishes for me- the fusilli, blue swimmer crab, typhoon shelter (if you're a garlic lover, you would absolutely adore this dish- fried crispy garlic, perfectly fried in intense heat no bitterness at all) and the macaroni, pigs head, egg yolk. Mix the egg yolk through the pasta, such smooth, rich intense flavour from the meat wonderfully plug up into the handmade macaroni tubes for a tastebud sensation- sweet, salty, spicy. Buttery. Finished the night off with the coconut rice cream, white chocolate. Dig right into the dessert to taste all layers. Airy with a bit of a crunch. Delectable. Even if you didn't have room for dessert, you could with this because it is so light. With less than two weeks till closure, everyone should experience dining at ACME with Mitch. I am so thankful to have tried ACME. It is sad to see such a bold, and adventurous establishment close its doors.
These guys are finishing with a bang. They are insanely busy but still providing spectacular service. Food is delicious as expected, only serving the Crush Me menu for the next couple of weeks giving you great value. Don't be afraid to stay on for dessert. Special thanks to Cam for whipping my partner up a quick tea to help her cough, worked a treat. Looking forward to seeing what you all move on to after a well deserved break.
We did the chef's selection and we even get an additional plate that you normally don't, so we got 4 entrees and 3 mains for 65 each. Our favourite was still the pigs head/yolk pasta. Our second favourite was the octopus. We are sad you are closing, but looking forward to see where your next venture is as we will surely come!
We did the sampling selection and were blown away. The service was impeccable and speedy. The food was divine, our favourite was the potatoes with seaweed butter and the macaroni with that delicious spicy sauce. Would definitely come back to try the other dishes! Also, the portion sizes were bigger than usual sampling menus and we had more than enough and total bang for your buck.
It’s clear these folks know what they’re doing. Cam and the team at ACME took great care during the service, making it a fun, easy going experience. They were great with my food intolerances, and the food was incredibly divine. Top notch!
Pigs head and egg yolk macaroni is always a winner. Bucatini was lovely and nicely spiced. Also of note was the carpaccio and Jerusalem artichoke dessert. Caramelised bacon with ice cream was texturally weird.
