Providing just the same smiling service today as twenty years ago, this outstanding restaurant serves traditional South Asian cuisine every day of the week on Sydney Road. Stop by for an incredible dining experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
Yummy food. Friendly service . Would recommend. We tried some of the less standard dishes and were very happy with he flavours. Dessert ice creams to die for!
Friendly staff, reasonable service (we did go early), pleasant setting, food ok - but we have had better. The butter chicken was very sweet. Just ok.
Founded by head chef Daljit Singh Saini, who brings over three decades of experience to the kitchen, Ajmer’s Indian Restaurant on Sydney Road in Balgowlah is a labour of love supported by Saini’s wife and children. A family feel is definitely in the air here, and the staff welcomes diners just as if they’re part of the clan. Thoughtfully decorated, elegantly furnished and with a superb wine selection to boot, Ajmer’s is one of Sydney’s most romantic dinner destinations. Be sure to reserve in advance when planning to dine in!
Bring a big appetite along when you’re visiting Sydney’s Ajmer’s. From aloo gobhi to chicken korma, the meals are large and exceptionally satisfying. Start off with an order of mixed entrees and enjoy a piece of shish, chicken tikka, samosa and onion bhaji. Creamy curries like the prawn makhani, lamb madras and Mumbai beef make for a rich and hearty main course, while vegetarian dishes like malai kofta (dumplings made from cottage cheese and mashed potatoes) and vegetable kadhai are fresh choices for herbivores and omnivores alike. Round it all off with a dessert – be sure to go for the pistachio kulfi if you love homemade ice cream.
