More about the restaurant: Amigos y Familia Hardware Lane
Mexican food, when done right, is one of the world’s very best cuisines. Unlike so many other so-called Mexican restaurants in the area, Amigos on Hardware Lanes sticks to time-honoured traditional recipes – with some Australian touches – rather than taking the easier, fast-food route. What you’ll get instead is some of Melbourne’s boldest flavours, blended seamlessly for an incredible taste experience. Situated right in the central business district, Amigos looks forward to serving you their classic Mexican delights seven days a week at their Hardware Lane outlet.

Thinking about making a Amigos y Familia Hardware Lane booking?
Amigos was established back in 1981 and now has three outlets around Melbourne, and to this day, they serve traditional Mexican cuisine with extra Australian pizzazz. Their Hardware Lane outlet – on the Lonsdale Street end – was opened back in 2011 and is famous in the central business district for its hip ambience and al fresco dining options. With three different floors including a stylish basement and an upstairs tequila and tapas bar, there’s a stylish corner of the restaurant to fit any preference.
A good Mexican meal at Amigos begins with one of their premium tequilas, all made of 100% pure agave and served with a shot of the restaurant’s sangrita (citrus fruit juice, tomato, tabasco, grenadine, cinnamon & celery). Next, it’s time for an appetizer such as the fiery stuffed jalapenos or the corn chips with creamy guacamole, before chowing down on mains like shredded beef tacos, spinach & potato enchiladas and big, delicious burritos stuffed with your choice of shredded beef, chilli con carne, chicken, and vegetable. One of our favourite dishes would have to be the Beef Colorado, a sizzling plate of slow-cooked beef chunks served over mash potato, topped with a red wine and herb sauce. It doesn’t get much better than that! Book ahead for an eating fiesta fiesta at this Melbourne CBD hotspot.
